Job description

Location:De Pere, WI
Position:General Laborer
Pay:$26.02 /hr (9 paid holidays, 2 weeks of vacation & 2 Personal Holidays (prorated), after a 60-day probation period)
Shift:Rotate 12-hour shifts - work week is 48 hours
Overtime:Time and one half after 8 hours in a day
Shift differential:.90 for night shift

Sonoco U.S. Paper Mills Corp., De Pere Mill is a global supplier of paperboard and spirally wound core stock. We are now hiring for full-time Entry-Level General Labor positions. Earnings increase when an employee qualifies in a position. Additionally, the company also offers a great benefits package including health, dental, prescription, paid vacation, and a 401k Program with company matching.

While reporting to the Mill Superintendent, you will be responsible for setting up machines for producing customers' orders, this means being able to multi-task and work with different specifications relating to each order. Attention to detail is crucial for the team to achieve success. You must have a proven record of success in a fast-paced environment. You must have the ability to work with various teams and successfully troubleshoot, and adjust equipment as needed.

What you'll be doing:

  • Being able to troubleshoot and adjust equipment to ensure production quality that exceeds our customer's standards.
  • Setting up new jobs and operate various types of paper manufacturing machinery.
  • Collaborating closely with other departments and teams.
  • Maintaining a safe, clean and organized work area.
  • Performing all duties as designated by supervisor/manager.
  • Performing all duties in support of Sonoco's quality and safety policies.
  • Assisting other departments as needed.

  • Prior Forklift Experience (preferred).
  • You will need to have exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • You need to have working knowledge of our products and their quality requirements.
  • Being reliable, having good initiative, being committed, and being quality focused is a must.
  • You will need to be able to lift up to 25 lbs. as needed and team lift 50 lbs.
  • Having the ability to effectively work with a team in a fast-paced environment is crucial to success.
  • You will need to have the ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions.
  • You will need to able to perform repetitious duties while standing for long periods of time on concrete floors.
  • Seasonal Wisconsin temperatures and heat generated from the paper machines influence the temperature of the mill.
  • Shifts are 12 hours 6am to 6pm and 6pm to 6am (Rotating). Qualified applicants must be available to work all shifts on a rotating schedule.
