Position Purpose:  

The Production Technician is responsible for supporting the full manufacturing process by operating automated production equipment and assembling structural components. This role combines machine operation and assembly responsibilities to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production from raw material through finished product. Production Technicians are cross-trained across multiple workstations including robotic systems, Scottsdale roll forming machines, material handling, and panel or frame assembly. This role plays a critical part in maintaining production flow, minimizing downtime, and supporting a flexible, high-performing operation.

As part of a growing operation, Production Technicians are expected to adapt to changing production needs, rotate between functions, and contribute to continuous improvement while maintaining strong safety, quality, and performance standards. Success in this role is measured by production output, first-pass quality, equipment uptime, and the ability to support a safe and efficient production environment.

Primary Role Expectations:

Production Operations    

  •  Operate robotic systems and roll forming equipment to meet production targets
  •  Assemble panels, frames, and structural components per prints and specifications
  •  Load raw materials (coil, lumber, components) and verify correct setup
  •  Execute work based on production schedules, work orders, and standard work
  •  Maintain consistent production flow from machine output to assembly

Cross-Functional Rotation  

  •  Rotate between machine operation and assembly tasks as directed
  •  Maintain working knowledge and proficiency across all assigned workstations
  •  Support team members and fill gaps to maintain production flow
  •  Adapt to changing production priorities and workload demands

Monitoring & Troubleshooting  

  • Monitor machine performance, cycle times, and alarms  
  • Troubleshoot minor mechanical and process issues
  • Adjust equipment settings to maintain quality and efficiency
  • Escalate equipment or process issues to leads or maintenance 

Quality & Process Control  

  •  Perform first-piece and in-process inspections
  •  Verify dimensions, tolerances, and specifications
  •  Identify, segregate, and report non-conforming material
  •  Perform rework or adjustments as needed
  •  Document production output, scrap, and defects

Equipment & Tools  

  • Safely operate and maintain machinery, tools, and equipment
  • Perform routine cleaning and basic upkeep
  • Inspect tooling and components for wear or damage
  • Report equipment issues promptly

Material Flow & Organization  

  • Move and stage materials between operations
  • Maintain organized buffer zones between machine and assembly
  • Stage completed assemblies for next process or shipment
  • Support inventory organization and material tracking

Safety & Compliance   

  •  Follow all safety policies, procedures, and site rules
  •  Adhere to LOTO, machine guarding, and robotic cell safety requirements
  •  Wear required PPE at all times
  •  Maintain clean and organized work areas (5S)
  •  Identify and report unsafe conditions immediately  

Continuous Improvement  

  •  Follow standard work and support process development
  •  Identify inefficiencies and suggest improvements
  •  Support implementation of new processes and best practices
  •  Participating in training and cross-functional development



Requirements:

Qualifications: 

· Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn equipment operation

· Ability to read prints, layouts, and production specifications

· Experience in manufacturing, assembly, or construction preferred

· Basic math and measurement skills (tape measure proficiency)

· Strong attention to detail and quality

· Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment  

· Willingness to learn multiple roles and rotate between functions

Physical Requirements: 

· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

· Frequent bending, lifting, and material handling

· Repetitive use of hands and tools

· Ability to work around machinery and in an industrial environment
