Job description

Join the Culinary Team Behind Major and Minor League Baseball Organizations.

We're hiring a Lead Cook to join our culinary team supporting the Texas Rangers in Surprise, AZ.

Year-round full-time role available | $21-$24/hr based on experience

What You'll Do: 

  • Assist with the food preparation for all in-season Texas Rangers baseball activities, including Spring Training, summer camps, and rehab needs at their player development facility
  • Participate in the preparation and cooking of meals that align with KitchFix and Texas Rangers standards daily
  • Prep and staff a variety of action stations including:
    • Eggs to order
    • Sandwiches
    • Pastas
    • High-performance bowls
  • Promote and exemplify a culture that is rooted in positivity
  • Assist with food safety & handling procedures within the kitchen & dining room
  • Assist with record-keeping system for temperatures
  • Assist with cleanliness of workstations, storage area, and kitchen
  • Be an advocate of key nutrition messages, serving as an extension to execute nutrition principles of the organization
  • Support nutrition interventions for medical need players
  • Ensure products are in stock for all refrigerators, freezers, and pantries
  • Ensure proper ingredient allergen labeling
  • Keep up to date with current food trends, new products, and emerging cuisines
  • Develop and maintain a positive rapport with the players, coaches, and staff
  • Uphold culinary, kitchen and operational best practices and standards

What We're Looking For: 

  • 4 years experience in a professional kitchen
  • A working knowledge of baseball is preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of kitchen equipment and good knife skills
  • Strong creativity, desire to learn, and interest in building healthy meals with lots of flavor
  • Ability to develop, document, and follow recipes
  • Ability to lead self and others
  • Ability to follow and support the direction of the Sous Chef
  • Experience working with recipes and production sheets
  • A working knowledge of culinary nutrition and have the ability to adjust recipes and menus to fit an athlete's nutritional needs.
  • Confidence in working with clients who have food sensitivities and allergies
  • Spanish language fluency is a plus

Requirements:

  • Able to work non-standard work week, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays
  • Ability to commute to Surprise, AZ
  • Food Handler/ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Willingness to complete background check and drug screening
  • Perform the physical demands - Remain on your feet for several hours at a time, ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, withstand high temperature conditions, bend, kneel, and stoop
