SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) Application Developer, IT

 

Are you a technology professional dreaming of a challenging career working for a market leader in a rapidly growing industry?  Heartland Dental is seeking a seasoned and adaptable SAP BTP developer to join our Enterprise Applications team as we expand on our strategic journey to leverage SAP’s Business Technology Platform (BTP). This role is ideal for a developer with a strong foundation in UI5 development. 

Heartland Dental is the nation's largest dental support organization, providing non-clinical administrative support services to more than 3,000 supported doctors across 39 states and the District of Columbia in 1,900+ dental offices. Each Heartland Dental supported office is unique to the community and the patients they serve. Supported doctors are the clinical leaders of their practice, retain full clinical autonomy, and establish their own care philosophies. All Heartland Dental supported doctors are united by a common goal: delivering the highest quality dental care and patient experiences. 

To give you an idea of the team structure, you will work alongside other application professionals, including administrators and developers, supporting a mix of SAP Business Technology Platform applications. You will have the opportunity to serve as part of an expanding Technology Transformation organization that supports enterprise-wide business functions. 

  • Developing, configuring, and maintaining application services within the SAP Business Technology platform. 
  • Maintaining a close partnership with our Extended Planning and Analysis (XP&A) team which is responsible for data stewardship and analytics within SAP BTP. 
  • Collaborating with our core application development team, including integrating and extending existing internal systems. 

We are seeking a dedicated individual who will be a developer of SAP’s Business Technology Platform services, executing on the vision of the business to provide scalable, sustainable, and optimized solutions.  The Application Developer position reports to a Senior Developer.  

Below is an overview of the duties and responsibilities you would take on in this role:

  • Main Responsibilities 
  • Develop and maintain custom applications leveraging SAP BTP-based services (Business Application Studio, Build Apps, Build Work Zone, etc.) 
  • Work with the IT Enterprise Platform Team, and Digital Experience team, to develop wire-frames and UI prototypes 
  • Complete unit testing of all applications 
  • Compile technical specification documents for all development as per company requirements 
  • Provide support during UAT activities 
  • Triage support tickets and issues 
  • Partnership responsibilities 
  • Business owners and functional leads  
  • Extended Planning and Analysis (XP&A) team 
  • IT Business Management (ITBM) project managers and business partners 
  • Application Development team 
  • SAP product development 
  • 3rd Party Consulting Partner 
  • Product roadmap reviews with SAP and Platform team management 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Minimum 1+ years of experience in developing SAP applications in UI5 
  • Experience integrating external REST/OData Services to present data in UI5 applications 
  • Should be able to extend and customize SAP BTP service applications 

Desirable Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent 
  • Development in SAP Task Center 
  • Development experience in SAP Build Work Zone or SuccessFactors Work Zone 
  • Development experience in SAP Mobile Services or utilizing SAP’s Mobile Development Kit (MDK) 
  • Experience with TypeScript and Nest.js 
  • Experience with Python 
  • Experience with SAP CAP development 
  • Experience with SAP AI Launchpad/Core 
  • Experience with SAP Cloud Identity Services 
  • Experience using AI coding tools and/or incorporating MCP servers into IDE
