Seasonal Oil Rig Labor information

What is a seasonal oil rig laborer?

Seasonal oil rig labor jobs involve temporary work on oil drilling platforms, typically during peak periods when extra hands are needed. These positions can include tasks such as assisting with drilling operations, maintaining equipment, and ensuring safety protocols are followed. Workers often operate in challenging environments, sometimes offshore, and are usually required to work long shifts for several weeks at a time before having extended breaks. Seasonal roles are ideal for those seeking short-term, high-intensity work and are often physically demanding. No prior experience may be necessary for entry-level positions, but safety training is mandatory.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a seasonal oil rig laborer?

To thrive as a Seasonal Oil Rig Laborer, you need physical stamina, basic mechanical aptitude, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with safety protocols, heavy machinery, and certifications like HAZWOPER or OSHA are commonly required. Teamwork, strong communication, and the ability to adapt to challenging environments are essential soft skills. These skills ensure operational efficiency, personal and team safety, and smooth workflow in demanding and hazardous conditions.

What challenges do seasonal oil rig laborers face and how can they be managed?

Seasonal oil rig laborers often encounter challenges such as physically demanding work, long shifts (sometimes 12 hours or more), and extended periods away from home. The work environment can be harsh, with exposure to extreme weather conditions and strict safety protocols. Staying proactive about personal safety, maintaining good communication with team members, and ensuring proper rest during off-hours are key strategies for managing these challenges and maintaining well-being throughout the season.

Job description

Description:

Lead a business, not just a shift.

If you have advanced as far as your current management role allows in a restaurant, retail, or service environment, this is an opportunity to run a location where your compensation reflects how well you operate it.

WSM Ventures is a Take 5 Oil Change franchisee operating across Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee. Take 5 provides a stay-in-your-car oil change experience in which customers remain in their vehicle throughout the service. The operating tempo and the people-management demands will be familiar to anyone who has led a team in a high-volume restaurant or retail setting.

We provide the technical training.

We hire for leadership capability, judgment, and standards. The automotive knowledge is taught — including a paid training program in Charlotte, at company expense and on full salary.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of six to ten, including recruiting, training, scheduling, and retention

• Own location performance: cars per day, average ticket, and customer satisfaction scores

• Manage labor, inventory, and daily cash handling

• Ensure a consistent, high-quality customer experience on every transaction

• Uphold safety, quality, and brand standards without exception

Compensation and Benefits

• $55,000 starting salary plus monthly bonus based on location performance

• Medical coverage with a substantial employer contribution toward premiums

• Paid time off

• Dental, vision, disability, and life coverage available

• Paid training, including travel expenses

• Complimentary oil changes and employee discounts

• Advancement opportunities into multi-unit leadership

WSM Ventures, LLC is a franchisee with Take 5 Oil Change. Position will be for a specific shop with a separate company entity. WSM Ventures is an equal opportunity employer. The duties and responsibilities listed in this job description are not exhaustive and may be subject to change as business needs evolve. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and eligibility to work in the United States.

Requirements:

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop people in a customer-facing environment

• Management experience preferred — restaurant, retail, hospitality, or any setting with accountability for team performance and results

• Willingness to learn the technical side of the business; no automotive background required

• Comfort operating against measurable performance targets

• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and at least 18 years of age

Work Environment

This is an active, floor-based leadership role. The position involves standing and walking for extended periods, bending, twisting, and reaching, entering and exiting a shallow service pit positioned beneath vehicles, and lifting up to fifty pounds. Work is performed in a shop environment subject to seasonal heat and cold.

Store Hours at shop are Monday - Friday 7 AM to 8 PM, Saturday, 8 AM to 6 PM, and Sunday 9 AM to 5 PM
