Description
Our luthiers are trusted professionals who take pride in delivering high-quality repairs and maintenance on orchestral string instruments for students, educators, and musicians of all levels.
This is a hands-on role supporting rental inventory, school accounts, and store customers. You'll work in an in-store repair environment that values craftsmanship, consistency, and service, while contributing directly to the musical success of our community.
What You'll Do
  • Perform setup, maintenance, and repair work on orchestral string instruments
  • Document all work and customer contact using our software
  • Provide accurate and timely repair estimates and appraisals to customers
  • Support ongoing partnerships with area schools and music directors, including occasional visits to the schools
  • Continually learn and apply best practices for repair techniques and shop safety
  • Replenish repair parts and supplies as needed

Work Environment:
Store Luthiers work in a retail musical instrument store with a dynamic and customer-focused atmosphere. Luthiers work both independently and collaboratively in a moderately noisy, safety-conscious environment.
Schedule & Compensation
  • Store Luthiers work within store operating hours; seasonal workload fluctuations may occur
  • Hourly pay + bonus opportunities, based on experience and training
  • Relocation assistance available for eligible candidates

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of orchestral string instrument repair and setup experience
  • Completion of an accredited instrument repair program is preferred but not required
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and commitment to quality
