Job description

BASIC PURPOSE Montgomery County Community College is searching for a part time Logistics and Warehouse Operations instructor to teach our Logistics certificate program. If you have run a dock, managed a DC floor, or spent years moving product, we want to hear from you Part Time Casual Employees are hired on a seasonal basis during peak periods, may serve a maximum of four consecutive months (i.e. summer/fall enrollment peak) and are limited to a maximum of 25 hours per week

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Demonstrate and teach best practices for safe warehouse operations, OSHA 10 General Industry content, and powered industrial truck operation. Teach students the fundamentals of warehouse and distribution operations including receiving, putaway, picking, packing, shipping, and inventory control. Deliver DOT HAZMAT general awareness instruction using MCCC-provided materials and certificate templates.

Demonstrate, conduct, and supervise practical labs including pallet jack operation and VR forklift simulator sessions. Cover topics including warehouse math, inventory systems (WMS awareness), workplace communication, and employer-ready skills. Evaluate student performance in the class.

Partner with industry advisory group to continue to improve and align instruction to industry needs. Serve as a reference for students seeking employment with regional employers. Partner with Workforce Division to help plan and implement additional logistics courses and/or contract training with regional employers.

Help maintain training labs as safe and organized work areas. ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS Hands-on warehouse, distribution center, or logistics experience as a lead, supervisor, dispatcher, or shift manager. Familiarity with powered industrial truck operation (forklift, pallet jack).

Able to demonstrate and coach safe operation. Prior instructional experience is desirable but can be waived for experienced professionals. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 3+ years of warehouse or logistics experience.

OSHA 10 General Industry completion. OSHA 30 or OSHA 501 authorization is a strong plus but not required. Forklift certification or PIT operator credential.

VR simulator familiarity is a plus; MCCC provides orientation.
