Job description

Ironworker – Sheet Metal Decking Technician

Join Gardner-Watson Decking, Inc. and help build steel-framed structures across the country. In this role, you’ll install and weld sheet metal decking and complete shear stud installation while upholding rigorous safety standards on every site.

What You’ll Do
  • Lay out, position, and attach sheet metal decking to steel structures.
  • Perform welding and shear stud installation per project requirements.
  • Operate hand, power, pneumatic, and powder‑actuated tools safely.
  • Maintain tools/equipment and report issues promptly.
  • Record daily time and attendance accurately.
  • Follow OSHA, customer, and company safety guidelines.
  • Assist with additional site tasks as assigned.
Travel & Schedule
  • 100% nationwide travel is required; you’ll move to the next city/state as projects conclude.
  • Full-time hourly position on daytime shift only.
  • Hours vary with job site demands and seasonal conditions.
  • Projects located in GA, NM, TX, LA, VA, AZ, SC, MD, and beyond.
Who You Are
  • Reliable and safety-focused with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Capable of lifting 75 lbs and working above 40 feet.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather.
  • Experienced with construction tools, including powder‑actuated equipment.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Preferred Certifications
  • OSHA 10‑Hour Construction Safety
