Job description

Position: SEASONAL FOOD SERVICE WORKER
Department: Student Affairs
Reports To: Food Service Director
FLSA: Non-Exempt
The Seasonal Food Service Worker position is vital to achieving excellent customer service in Lane College dining locations with the option of becoming full-time pending probation period and 12 months of service.
Duties:
  • Performs a wide range of duties involved with preparing and/or serving food and beverages in one or more of a variety of food service environments.
  • May perform such duties as preparing salad items, hot foods, and/or cold foods, and/or assisting in the preparation of bakery items, as appropriate to the position. Assist in cleaning work areas, equipment, utensils.
  • May assist in the set up, and service; and collection of garbage/trash; as appropriate to the area of operation. May serve food to customers and/or perform cashiering duties, as appropriate.
  • Employees may be required to perform duties on the College campus including but not limited to; maintenance, painting, lifting and moving of items that may exceed fifty pounds 1% of the time, sweeping, and trash collection.

Qualifications:
  • 1 year of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in the food service industry.
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Great customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Time management, organization, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to work successfully in a team environment promotes teamwork.
  • Ability to use confidential information in an appropriate manner and protect employee privacy.
  • Ability to manage people and have accountability for company assets.
  • Ability to work in a challenging environment and effectively use problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to quickly learn modern technology systems.
  • Previous supervisory experience or experience in the food service industry.
  • Able to lift, carry, push and pull objects up to 40 lb.
