Duties
Help
As a Fuel Distribution System Supervisor your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Provide both technical and administrative direction to the Fueling Team.
  • Responsible for the storage of bulk fuel and waste fuel products. Responsible for the refurbishment of all fuel handling equipment after use.
  • Operate vehicles to include 3 ton vehicles and aviation refueling trucks and gasoline and diesel powered forklifts up to 8,000 lb capacity as well as articulating all terrain forklifts up to 20, 000 lb capacity.
  • Respond to any incident where there is a leak or failure in any fuel containment device provided by the unit.
  • Install and demobilize portable aviation and other fuel handling facilities

  • This position requires possession of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL). As such , it is a Drug and Alcohol Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing act of 1991.
  • You must possess and maintain a current Class B (or higher) Commercial Driver's License with Hazardous Materials and Tanker endorsements.
  • This is a supervisory position that may require completion of a supervisory probationary period.
  • Will be required to receive a negative drug test prior to appointment. Will also be subject to random drug and alcohol testing and may also undergo reasonable suspicion, post-accident, return-to-duty, and follow-up testing.

Qualifications
Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualifications System for Trades and Labor Occupations will be used in determining applicants' qualifications. There is no specific length of training or experience required; however, you must be able to demonstrate through experience shown in your written resume that you have the ability to independently do the work of the position, as defined below, without more than normal supervision. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must be rated at least at the acceptable level in these elements to receive further consideration.
Qualifications: Have received and dispensed bulk fuel; have inspected fuel handling equipment for quality assurance and serviceability; and have supervisory experience.
  • Ability to lead or supervise.
  • Knowledge of equipment assemble, installation and repair.
  • Operation of fuel trucks and fueling equipment.
  • Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic).
  • Use of measuring instruments.
  • Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (other than blueprints).
  • Dexterity and Safety

Education
There is no substitution of education for experience for Wage Grade (WG) positions.

  • Travel and relocation expenses will not be paid by the Department of the Interior. Any travel, transportation, and relocation expenses associated with reporting for duty in this position will be the responsibility of the selected employee.
  • This position is suitable for telework only in an emergency or natural disaster.

Physical Demands: Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require incumbent to stand, bend, stoop, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May be required to Work at a rapid pace for long periods of time. Frequently lifts and carries supplies, materials and equipment that weigh up to 50 lbs. heavier items are moved with assistance or weight handling equipment.
Work Environment: Work is accomplished indoors and out, day or night, in all weather conditions, in any location of the state. The work is dirty, dusty, and greasy; wet, hot, cold, or any combination of the above. Operates large trucks in heavy traffic, over poorly maintained roads and in all weather
conditions.
Is frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, Bruises, working from ladders, or injury from material handling equipment. May be required to wear protective equipment and clothing. Will spend many hours flying to remote areas of Alaska via various types of cargo aircraft in all types of weather. The work exposes the employee to serious risk of injury or death. May spend up to 14 days at a time in the field in all weather conditions .
Cost of Living Allowance: In addition to the yearly salary, this position is entitled to a cost-of-living allowance (COLA) as determined by https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/pay-leave/pay-systems/nonforeign-areas/#url=COLA-Rates .This allowance is subject to annual review, adjustment, and rate decrease.
