Description
The Show Place Arena/Prince George's Equestrian Center is a multipurpose facility owned and operated by The Maryland- National Capital Park & Planning Commission. Part-time opportunities are located at The Show Place Arena/Prince George's Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro, Md. Work hours are flexible and include evenings, nights and weekends.
Salary range of $16.00/hour - $23.64/hour depending on position and experience.

Opportunities Include:
FOOD SERVICE
(1) Food Service Aide (Concessions)
  • Prepares concessions stands for events.
  • Operates, monitors and cleans all food service-related equipment, including cash registers.
  • Maintains stock areas.
  • Follows all safety and security procedures involving individually entrusted cash and inventories.
  • Properly completes forms pertaining to the reporting of sales and cash tendered.
  • Must be able to work evenings and/or nights, including weekends.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and remain focused in a busy and hectic environment.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.

(2) Food Service Worker (Production & Service)
  • Assists with the preparation of food items by slicing, chopping, grating, cleaning, mixing, etc.
  • Serves food following established food portion control standards
  • Maintains the operational readiness of facilities and equipment; sets up counters, steam tables, serving lines, and serving utensils
  • Maintains safe and sanitary conditions in cooking, serving and general work areas; cleans facilities and equipment, washes, sanitizes, stores pots, pans, and kitchen utensils. Removes refuse from specified area.
  • Assists in stocking and storing food service items. Keeps records pertaining to daily operations, food production, consumption and inventory
  • Operates a variety of kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, toasters, fryers, mixers, etc.
  • Must be able to work evenings and/or nights, including weekends.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and remain focused in a busy and hectic environment.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

GUEST SERVICES
(1) Parking Attendant (/Traffic Control/Grounds Maintenance)
  • Directs and gives parking instructions to public.
  • Gives public general information pertaining to an event.
  • Secures parking areas including locking gates.
  • Sets up barricades as needed. Maintains parking areas for public safety.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as needed
  • Must be able to work evenings and/or nights, including weekends.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and remain focused in a busy and hectic environment.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.

OUTDOOR/EQUESTRIAN OPERATIONS
(1) Grounds Maintenance Assistant
  • Grounds maintenance includes cleaning horse stalls, removing trash from the grounds and parking lots, and assisting with general building and grounds maintenance (including mowing, weeding, trimming, and snow removal).
  • Additional duties include assisting with ring drags and supporting Arena event setup and teardown.
  • Candidates must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work evenings and/or nights, including weekends.
  • This position may include hands-on opportunities to operate equipment such as a Bobcat, backhoe, and tractor with attachments.

(2) Horse Show Grounds Technician
  • Performs all duties of the Grounds Maintenance Assistant in addition to having a Class B - Commercial Driver's License.
  • Assumes leadership responsibilities and oversee staff in the absence of the supervisor

The following information is a summary of benefits extended to all Seasonal employees of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC). This is for informational purposes only and is subject to change.
Limited Benefits for Seasonal Employees
Health Insurance Plans
You are eligible for specific health insurance benefits if you worked, on average, 30 hours per week during your first 12 months of employment or from October 3rd to October 2nd each subsequent period following your first 12 months of employment. This equates to 1,560 hours over a 12-month period.
If and when you are eligible for benefits, you will receive notification directly from the Health & Benefits Office.
Eligible Employees Pay 35% of the health insurance plan premium and The Commission Pays 65%.
