Job Description

Aramark Facilities Management is hiring a Groundskeeping Lead to help maintain the appearance and safety of the grounds at Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, Alabama. In this hands-on landscaping and grounds maintenance leadership role, you'll lead a small crew, complete quality inspections, and ensure campus grounds are maintained to a high standard. Daily work includes mowing, trimming, planting, leaf removal, landscape upkeep, and operating commercial groundskeeping equipment. This position is ideal for an experienced landscaper, groundskeeper, or lawn maintenance professional who takes pride in detail-oriented work and can motivate a team to meet weekly goals. The schedule is typically Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with occasional Saturdays as needed. Job Responsibilities

   Lead and direct a small groundskeeping crew to complete weekly landscaping and campus beautification goals
   Inspect completed work to ensure appearance, quality, and safety standards are met
   Perform landscaping and grounds maintenance tasks including mowing, trimming, edging, planting, weeding, fertilizing, leaf removal, and debris cleanup
   Maintain the appearance of sidewalks, parking lots, walkways, athletic areas, and campus common spaces
   Operate landscaping equipment such as commercial mowers, weed eaters, hedge trimmers, blowers, sprayers, chainsaws, and other power tools
   Drive trucks, utility vehicles, tractors, and equipment used in grounds maintenance operations
   Assist with seasonal duties including storm cleanup, salting, snow removal, and ice management when required
   Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and minor repairs on groundskeeping equipment and tools
   Train and support new team members on proper work methods, equipment usage, and safety procedures
   Monitor landscaping conditions and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, appearance, and service quality
   Follow all safety guidelines, PPE requirements, and company procedures
   Report equipment issues, hazards, and maintenance concerns to management promptly
   Work outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout the year

Qualifications

Required
   2-3 years of landscaping, groundskeeping, lawn maintenance, horticulture, or related outdoor maintenance experience
   Previous experience leading a crew, assigning work, or overseeing daily tasks
   Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
   Experience operating commercial landscaping equipment and power tools
   Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work
   Ability to communicate clearly with team members and supervisors
   Reliable attendance and punctuality with the ability to report to work on time daily
   Ability to work independently with limited supervision
   Ability to lift, push, pull, bend, walk, and stand for extended periods
   Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and other weather conditions
   Ability to follow safety policies and wear required PPE
Preferred
   Experience maintaining college campuses, parks, municipal properties, or large commercial landscapes
   Basic knowledge of landscape design, plant care, irrigation, or turf maintenance
   Experience conducting quality inspections or grounds audits
   Experience operating tractors and attachments used for grounds maintenance
