City of Temple Terrace
STARTING SALARY: $14.62 - $16.08 per hour
POSITION: Lifeguard • Part Time (Seasonal)
POSITION NO: 5.221
DEPT: Leisure Services - Parks & Rec.
This is responsible work in ensuring safety at the City's swimming pool. Employee is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of the patrons and must exercise discretion in maintaining safety in and around the pool areas. Work schedule may require evening and weekend hours.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
  • Excellent swimming skills.
  • Thorough knowledge and application of lifeguard and emergency response skills, swimmer surveillance, rescue techniques, and rescue equipment.
  • Ability to respond responsibly and professionally to emergency situations.
  • Ability to effectively enforce rules and regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and the public.
  • *Lifeguard with W.S.I.: Ability to instruct and evaluate program participants in accomplishing the "Learn to Swim" curriculum.
    *W.S.I applies to a Lifeguard with Water Safety Instructor Certification
Training and Experience
  • Possess Lifeguard Training, First Aid, and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certifications.
  • Or, an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Possession of Water Safety Instructor (W.S.I.) Certification required to teach swimming lessons.
Special Requirements
  • Minimum age, 16 years.
