Search Engine Rater information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Search Engine Rater, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Search Engine Rater, you need strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a good understanding of web search and internet culture, often supported by a high school diploma or higher. Familiarity with online evaluation tools, search engines, and sometimes proprietary rating guidelines is typically required. Excellent communication, time management, and the ability to follow complex instructions set top performers apart. These abilities ensure that search results are accurately evaluated, improving the quality and relevance of information presented to users.

What are some common challenges faced by Search Engine Raters, and how can they be managed?

Search Engine Raters often encounter the challenge of interpreting complex guidelines and applying them consistently across a wide range of search queries and content. Staying up-to-date with frequent updates to these guidelines requires attention to detail and adaptability. Managing productivity within strict deadlines while avoiding repetitive strain can also be difficult. To succeed, it helps to review guideline updates regularly, take scheduled breaks, and engage with available support forums or training resources to clarify uncertainties.

What are Search Engine Raters?

Search Engine Raters are individuals who evaluate and rate the quality and relevance of search engine results. They help companies like Google and Bing improve their algorithms by providing feedback on how well search results meet user intent. Raters follow detailed guidelines to assess webpages, images, videos, and other content, ensuring search results are useful and accurate. This role typically involves working from home on a flexible schedule and requires attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

Job description

Marketing Technology Developer

About the Role

We are looking for a Marketing Technology “MarTech” Developer to support and improve a

multi-brand digital marketing operation across WordPress websites, landing pages, SEO

systems, lead forms, tracking scripts, analytics platforms, and internal marketing workflows.

This role is ideal for a developer who understands that a website is not just a design asset. It is

a lead generation system. You will work closely with marketing, SEO, PPC, design, and data

teams to build scalable seo content series through programmatic templates, maintain accurate

tracking, troubleshoot forms and integrations, improve page speed, and support ongoing

campaign launches across multiple brands.

The ideal candidate is technically strong, detail-oriented, marketing-minded, and comfortable

working inside WordPress, Elementor, ACF, PHP, JavaScript, Airtable, and related marketing

technology platforms. This person should be able to take a designer’s mockups and bring them

to life while also understanding how their work impacts SEO, PPC performance, attribution,

conversion tracking, and lead quality.

Key Responsibilities

● Build, maintain, and improve WordPress websites across multiple brands.

● Develop responsive landing pages, service pages, location pages, and programmatic

SEO page templates.

● Work with Elementor, global templates, dynamic content, repeaters, global components,

and reusable design systems.

● Build and manage custom post types, custom fields, template logic, and scalable page

structures using ACF and related WordPress tools.

● Implement and troubleshoot forms using tools such as Formidable Forms, Gravity

Forms, or similar platforms.

● Configure form logic, hidden fields, UTM capture, lead attribution, email notifications,

SMTP, and routing workflows.

● Implement, test, and maintain marketing tracking scripts through Google Tag Manager

and related platforms.

● Set up and QA GA4 events, Google Ads conversions, Meta custom events, CallRail

tracking, DNI, and call tracking number pools.

● Support SEO and PPC teams with technically sound landing pages, schema, internal

linking systems, tracking, and page performance improvements.

● Optimize WordPress and Elementor pages for mobile responsiveness, Lighthouse

scores, Core Web Vitals, speed, usability, and conversion rate.

● Work with Figma Dev Mode to accurately translate visual designs into responsive web

pages.

○ This role does not require any design work, but an eye for good design and

attention to design details is a plus.

● Maintain technical SEO standards including canonicals, XML sitemaps, robots.txt,

schema markup, indexation, crawlability, and internal linking.

● Support scalable schema and programmatic SEO initiatives across large sets of pages.

● Troubleshoot issues related to caching, CDN behavior, WordPress plugins, PHP

configuration, APIs, tracking scripts, and form submissions.

● Work safely with API keys, personal access tokens, environment/config files, and

sensitive credentials.

● Support integrations with tools such as Airtable, Google Places API, CallRail, Google

Search Console, and other marketing platforms.

● Help maintain staging, development, and production environments with proper QA and

deployment practices.

● Document technical changes, QA steps, tracking implementations, and workflows clearly

for the marketing team.

Required Skills and Experience

● Strong experience with WordPress development.

● Strong experience with Elementor, global templates, dynamic content, reusable

components, and responsive page building.

● Experience with Advanced Custom Fields, custom post types, template logic, and

structured content management.

● Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.

● Experience working with Bootstrap, Tailwind, Material UI, or similar front-end

frameworks/libraries.

● Experience taking Figma or designer mockups and developing them into accurate,

responsive web pages.

● Strong understanding of responsive development across desktop, tablet, and mobile.

● Experience with form tools: Formidable Forms and Gravity Forms.

○ Experience with HTML/PHP Forms.

● Understanding of UTM parameters, hidden fields, lead attribution, and form tracking.

● Experience with Google Tag Manager, GA4, custom events, and marketing tracking

scripts.

● Familiarity with Meta custom events, CallRail, DNI, number pools, and call tracking

attribution.

● Understanding of technical SEO, including schema, canonicals, sitemaps, robots.txt,

internal linking, and indexing.

● Experience optimizing WordPress and Elementor websites for speed, Lighthouse

performance, and Core Web Vitals.

● Comfort with SFTP, SSL, DNS basics, caching, CDN behavior, backups, staging

environments, and general server troubleshooting.

● Awareness of DKIM, SPF, DMARC, SMTP, and email deliverability basics.

● Understanding of WordPress/PHP website security best practices.

● Ability to work with APIs, API keys, personal access tokens, and secure configuration

practices.

● Strong attention to detail and ability to QA your own work before launch.

● Ability to understand marketing outcomes through technology, not just complete isolated

coding tasks.

Preferred Skills

● Experience with Airtable and Airtable-powered content or workflow systems.

● Experience with Google Places API or other location/content APIs.

● Experience with Google Search Console API or indexing/submission workflows.

● Experience building or supporting programmatic SEO systems.

● Experience with scalable unique schema generation.

● Experience with programmatic internal linking systems.

● Familiarity with Microsoft Clarity, heatmaps, session recordings, and conversion behavior

analysis.

● Familiarity with .llm files, markdown files, structured content files, and emerging

AI/search optimization formats.

● Experience with multi-brand websites or large content-heavy websites.

● Experience supporting PPC landing pages and conversion-focused page development.

● Experience working with marketing, SEO, PPC, design, and data teams.

What Success Looks Like

A successful Marketing Technology Developer in this role does more than build pages. They

help protect and improve the entire marketing engine.

Success in this role means:

● Pages are launched quickly, cleanly, and accurately.

● Forms work properly and capture the correct attribution data.

● Tracking events fire correctly across GA4, Google Ads, Meta, CallRail, and related

platforms.

● SEO templates are scalable, organized, indexable, and technically sound.

● Elementor and WordPress builds are reusable, maintainable, and not overly fragile.

● Landing pages are fast, responsive, and optimized for conversions.

● Technical issues are documented, diagnosed, and resolved without constant

hand-holding.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a practical, marketing-minded developer who is comfortable working

across websites, tracking, forms, SEO, analytics, and integrations.

You should be the kind of person who asks questions like:

● Will this page convert?

● Will the form submit correctly?

● Are we capturing the UTM values?

● Will GA4, Google Ads, Meta, and CallRail track this properly?

● Is this template scalable for hundreds of pages?

● Will this hurt page speed or SEO?

● Can the marketing team reuse this without breaking it?

● Is this safe, documented, and easy to maintain?

We are looking for someone who can think beyond individual tasks and understand how

development decisions impact marketing performance.

Qualifications

● 3+ years of experience in WordPress development, marketing development, web

development, or a similar role.

● Strong portfolio or examples of WordPress, Elementor, ppc landing pages, scaled seo

series.

● Experience working on lead generation websites is strongly preferred.

● Experience supporting SEO, PPC, analytics, or marketing teams is strongly preferred.

● Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical decisions clearly.

● Strong organizational skills and ability to document work.

● Ability to manage multiple priorities across multiple brands or websites.

● Experience with SEO automation or large-scale content systems.

Role Summary

SEO, and marketing systems work together. The right person will help us build faster, cleaner,

more scalable marketing infrastructure across multiple brands while improving the reliability of

our lead generation systems.
