Job description

We are seeking a passionate and highly experienced Scuba Diving Product Specialist & Technical Advisor to serve as the company's in-house scuba diving expert. As a leading retailer and distributor of scuba diving equipment, we need someone who lives and breathes diving and can provide technical guidance across all aspects of our product portfolio. This individual will be the company's primary resource for scuba-related knowledge, helping evaluate products, test equipment, guide product selection and development, answer technical customer questions, and ensure we remain at the forefront of the diving industry. The ideal candidate is an active scuba diver with extensive hands-on experience using a wide range of diving equipment and a deep understanding of industry trends, customer needs, safety requirements, and emerging technologies.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the company's in-house scuba diving expert and primary technical resource.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend new scuba diving products and equipment.
  • Test diving gear and provide detailed feedback on performance, quality, safety, and usability.
  • Assist with new product development by providing real-world diver insights and recommendations.
  • Answer complex customer and internal team questions regarding diving equipment and its use.
  • Work with vendors and manufacturers to identify product improvements and opportunities.
  • Monitor industry trends, innovations, and competitor products.
  • Train customer service, sales, and marketing teams on scuba products and technical features.
  • Create product guides, FAQs, and educational materials for customers and staff.
Requirements

Extensive hands-on scuba diving experience and a passion for the sport. Deep knowledge of scuba equipment, including regulators, BCDs, wetsuits, drysuits, dive computers, masks, fins, tanks, and accessories. Ability to evaluate and test products objectively and provide actionable feedback. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to explain technical concepts to both beginners and experienced divers. Experience in product testing, equipment evaluation, or the scuba diving industry preferred. Professional diving certifications (Divemaster, Instructor, Technical Diver, or equivalent) are a strong plus.

Location: 3 days onsite New York, NY - 2 days remote Salary: $120K
