The technologist assists physicians in performing diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures by preparing the patient and operating the x-ray equipment in order to obtain diagnostic images.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitors and assists patients before, during and after procedures to include proper positioning, prep and drape.
- Able to scrub and circulate in various IR areas for multiple procedure types.
- Turns over and prepares rooms using aseptic technique between patients, assures all equipment and supplies are readily available for procedures.
- Flexible team player comfortable with a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing.
- Knowledge of arterial and venous anatomy as it pertains to interventional procedures.
- Manage inventory
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Current BLS for the healthcare provider.
- Active and unrestricted RT license in the state of Virginia, if applicable (for RT position, not required for Scrub Tech).
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience. Interventional Radiology experience preferred.
- ARRT or equivalent (for RT position, not required for Scrub Tech)
- Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job. These include, but are not limited to, sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time, lifting, pulling, moving patients/objects > 50 pounds, and repetitive motions.
- Ability to multitask, prioritizes effectively, and works as part of a team.
