 Your Role as a First Assist Surgical Scrub Technologist

As a Surgical First Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting surgeons and the patient care team. From preparing surgical instruments to assisting in advanced procedures, you’ll help ensure a safe and efficient surgical experience.

Key Responsibilities:

✔️ Intraoperative assistance, including providing surgical site exposure, handling tissue, and wound management.
✔️ Postoperative patient management, including breaking down the OR and processing surgical instruments.
✔️ Maintain a safe and sterile environment through instrument preparation and assembly.
✔️ Assist the RN with circulating duties, transporting patients, and specimen preparation.
✔️ Provide visualization of the surgical site during procedures.
✔️ Perform positioning, prepping, and advanced surgical skills under surgeon guidance.
✔️ Help train and orient new surgical technicians.


 What We’re Looking For
  •  Surgical Tech Qualifications:
    • High School Diploma or Equivalent
    • Graduate of a School of Surgical Technology
    • Certification as a Surgical Tech (preferred but not required)
    • AHA BLS Healthcare Certification (required within 30 days of hire)
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Surgical Tech First Assist Qualifications:
    • 1–2 years of experience as a surgical technologist.
    • Completion of a basic first assist skills course (if not already certified).
    • Competency-based demonstration of first assist skills.
