Job description

Van Buren Specialty Pharmacy Fulfillment Center - Full time, day shift

About the Department

Our department specifically deals with the accurate dispensing ordering, filling, verifying, selling and shipping of specialty medication.

Scope of Work

Under the direction and supervision of a Pharmacist, performs a variety of functions related to preparation, storage, distribution and dispensing of prescriptions. Within the Hospital, rotation through IV admixture and unit dose service is routine. Rotation to OR Pharmacy Services and Outpatient Pharmacy Services may be required. Performs data entry and other record keeping functions as determined to be necessary to the operations of the department.

Fills medication orders including oral, injectable and topical medications and intravenous admixtures. Enters patient demographics, insurance information and prescriptions into the pharmacy information system, prioritizing scripts for customers waiting. Appropriately handles and reprocesses rejected claims. Processes prescriptions, retrieves correct medication, fills and labels prescription and attaches any necessary notifications. Files completed scripts in the patient pickup bins after pharmacist verification.

Qualifications

  • Required A level of knowledge normally acquired through completion of a general high school diploma program or GED.

  • Experience with sterile compounding and/or 6 months technician experience and/or graduate of an ASHP accredited technician training program. Preferred

  • Previous Specialty Pharmacy and/or Fulfillment experience preferred.

  • LIC-Pharmacy Technician - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or

  • LIC-Pharmacist Intern - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
