Job description

This position utilizes knowledge of the contract documents / construction drawings, construction products, materials, and methods to write and edit specifications for a variety of complex projects and building types including retail, hospitality, multi-family, grocery, theaters, office environments, and industrial and fulfillment centers. Position requires the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while coordinating the specifics of each project with a variety of in house teams, consulting engineers and third party vendors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Produces project specific Project Manuals utilizing MasterSpec, SpecLink Cloud, or client-based specifications in conjunction with Microsoft Word and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Manages multiple projects and deadlines – phases, milestone deliveries and various project delivery types.
  • Coordinates the Project Manual efforts of all disciplines and consultants.
  • Reviews in-progress drawings, ensuring complete and coordinated technical specifications and offering modifications and improvements when appropriate.
  • Proposes continual development and improvement of office master specifications including its specialized content for project type or regional conditions as well as sustainable content, based on project work.
  • Maintains awareness of industry reference standards and resources.
  • Participates in kick off and process meetings scheduled for assigned projects.
  • Assists project managers and architects with product substitution review.
  • Collaborates with peers to develop best practices and share knowledge. Mentor emerging professionals.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with vendors.
  • Supports Sustainability goals of the client or firm.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • A NAAB accredited degree in Architecture preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 8+ years’ related experience.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Professional licensure, CDT certification and CSI membership preferred. Knowledge of building codes and construction techniques is essential.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, teamwork, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office and working with MasterSpec and SpecLink Cloud.
  • Ability to work independently, taking initiative, setting priorities, and seeing projects/tasks through to completion.
  • Discretion in handling sensitive or confidential information.
  • Exhibit a strong customer service approach.
  • Candidate must be eager to learn and have excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills, exceptional initiative, and ability to work effectively in a professional atmosphere with strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to work well with all levels of teammates.

Working Conditions:
