Digital Media specialist & instructional designer

The Digital Media Specialist & Instructional Designer (“Specialist”) works closely with Instructional Content Developers and the Director of Content, subject matter experts, internal and external teams, and implementation facilitators. The Specialist is responsible for supporting the design, development and evaluation of engaging learning experiences that support organizational goals. This person must bring experience in LMS learning experience, adult learning principles, digital asset management, and video editing/production. The Specialist supports the creation of courses and content based on course scripts and learning objectives. The Specialist is also instrumental in coordinating filming aligned to the course/script. Further, this person will be responsible for tagging, organizing, and having deep familiarity with digital asset management to support video selection for course design.

Essential Job Duties:

Instructional Content Development & Quality Assurance:

• Contribute to evolving frameworks (e.g., transitioning from age-specific to continuum models of instruction across age groups).
• Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to define learning goals and develop narratives aligned with research and instructional intent (e.g., the Alliance project, webinar-based courses).
• Write clear, engaging content for Cox Campus
• Use authoring tools such as Articulate 360 (Storyline, Rise), or similar software to build digital learning assets.

Video Production & Editing:

• Edit video footage into video-based and/or webinar-based courses that communicate Rollins' overall message of literacy and justice for all and align with organizational goals.
• Build engaging narratives by using pacing, rhythm, and visual flow to hold viewers’ attention and support learning outcomes.
• Capture audio and video of subject matter experts in various locations to be featured in eLearning content published on the Cox Campus platform.
• Create, review, and replicate graphics, including animation for video coursework aligned to the learning objectives of the course.
• Leverage expertise in post-production editing, including but not limited to color-correcting.

Video Management and Filming Coordination:

• Develop, in collaboration with Instructional Designers, the master video plan across all courses in development
• Implement the master video plan with assigned videographers
• Identify and coach talent
• Coordinate logistics for video shoots
• Oversee filming days across projects. In-person and on-site work is required at filming locations.
• Develop and manage Media Asset Management (MAM) system to support accurate filing/storage
• Serve as the team lead on MAM to support the content team with video selection

Collaboration and Communication:

• Collaborate regularly with external partners or SMEs, and internal teams, including other members of the content team, field teams (B-5 and K–5), Tech Ops team, and leadership.

Professional Development and Research:

• Have a working knowledge of literacy, child development, and reading science research through newsletters, podcasts, and other media.
• Attend professional conferences that provide support in developing digital assets (e.g., writing workshops, technology conferences).

• Bachelor’s degree or higher (e.g., B.A., B.S., M.Ed., MAT, M.S.) in communications, media, education, human services or instructional design field.
• 5+ years of previous work-related experience (e.g., developing video-based courses and/or digital assets).
• Experience in video editing
• Some experience in online content development or curriculum writing in education, early learning, child development, and/or literacy development.
• Knowledge of business/management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and coordination of people and resources.
• Familiar with equipment, policies, and procedures for the protection of people, data, property, and organization.
• Knowledge of local, state, and national laws and government regulations

The Rollins Center is a hybrid workplace, with both in-person and site-based work, as well as remote work. The Specialist will work at the Rollins Center at the Atlanta Speech School and will have the opportunity to work remotely from home when possible.  Some travel is expected to the Rollins Center at the Atlanta Speech School, as well as to national conferences.

• Light physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials
• Regularly required to sit or stand, bend, and reach. Generally, works in an office environment but may occasionally be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting

Compensation and Benefits:

This is a full-time position offering a generous benefits package, including personal and sick days, health/dental/life/vision insurance, and long-term disability insurance. The Speech School subsidizes health insurance premiums for staff and families. Salary: Commensurate with experience.
