Job description

Position Overview

The Commissioning Engineer I supports the creation of complete project commissioning plans, resourcing plans, and execution of commissioning activities, based on a clear understanding of owner, facility, and equipment functional requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Works with Preconstruction Managers and Project Managers at the beginning of projects to define commissioning requirements and establish plans to complete commissioning documentation and other deliverables.
  • Assists with creating LOTO plans and start‑up scripts.
  • With direction from a senior commissioning engineer, completes detailed procedures and checklists to document that equipment meets specifications and integrates into a functioning system.
  • Assists the Commissioning Site Lead with establishing structure, training, and implementing LOTO and start‑up scripts.
  • Conducts field surveys.
  • Collects and enters data to ensure that equipment conforms to operational standards and requirements.
  • Provides support materials or reports to project managers and the commissioning team as required.
  • Provides reports documenting equipment functions per project specifications and requirements.
  • Provides support for field commissioning activities through research and addressing needs during the process.
  • Provides guidance to office and field teams to ensure start‑up activities comply with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
  • Works with equipment providers to troubleshoot installed equipment during start‑up, testing, and commissioning.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience: 3 to 8 years of related experience or 5 to 12 years of electrical commissioning experience
  • Proficient in PC and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to read one‑lines, schematics, and drawings
  • Knowledge of electrical terminology and components
  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC)
  • Travel: 100%
  • Work schedule: 7AM – 5PM, Monday–Friday, with flexibility to meet business needs
