What is a script coordinator?

Script Coordinators are professionals in the television and film industry responsible for managing the flow of scripts between writers, producers, and production departments. They ensure that script versions are up-to-date, properly formatted, and distributed to the necessary team members. Script Coordinators also check for continuity, track script changes, and may handle legal clearances or proofreading. Their organizational skills are essential to keep production running smoothly and to prevent costly errors. This role acts as a bridge between the creative and logistical sides of script production.

What are the main challenges a script coordinator faces when managing multiple script versions in a fast-paced production?

Script Coordinators often juggle multiple script drafts and revisions, especially in television or film productions with tight deadlines. One of the biggest challenges is ensuring that all departments—such as production, wardrobe, and post-production—are working from the most current script version. This requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and proactive communication to prevent costly errors or confusion on set. Utilizing script management software and maintaining clear records are vital strategies for overcoming these challenges.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a script coordinator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Script Coordinator, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of script formatting and production processes, often supported by experience in television or film production. Proficiency in scriptwriting software such as Final Draft, Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with production tracking systems is typically required. Excellent communication, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities help you efficiently manage script revisions and liaise between writers, producers, and other departments. These skills are crucial to ensure script accuracy, smooth workflow, and effective communication throughout the production process.

Job description

Do you want to do work that matters, alongside supportive leaders who will help you grow faster than you ever thought possible? Are you a creative problem-solver who is energized by challenges? You've come to the right place.
YOUR IMPACT
You will join a group of communications professionals within the firm's Reach and Engagement function. These colleagues help ensure that appropriate insights reach designated audiences, delivering tailored and impactful messaging to build awareness and engagement with McKinsey's distinctive knowledge on a variety of topics. They shape the way the firm connects with people-from clients to employees to alumni-strengthening institutional relationships, connections and affiliations.
Through collaborating with senior communications colleagues and internal stakeholders, you will support the execution of best-in-class global communications programs, campaigns, publications, and events that enable client activation and funnel building across channels. By aligning with clear project briefs and leveraging insights, you will ensure communications efforts are strategically focused, well-coordinated, and deliver measurable impact.
You will help develop, support, and execute creative communication plans and tactics that build awareness of McKinsey's capabilities, knowledge, and assets. A key focus of the role will be coordinating end-to-end marketing execution-from publishing thought leadership to promoting content across channels and amplifying insights internally-to help ensure campaigns reach the right audience at the right time.
You will be part of the Social, Healthcare & Public Entities (SHaPE) Marketing & Communications team. This team works closely with our leaders in the public, social and healthcare sectors to measurably improve lives, livelihoods and health, and create more resilient communities. The SHaPE practice is one of the largest in the firm, serving over 2,400 clients in 65+ countries.
You will leverage a range of skills such as writing, attention to detail, and self-motivation to elevate the firm's communications, showcase the firm's knowledge and assets, and protect the firm's reputation across channels, platforms, and stakeholders.
In terms of creating effective communications: you will create clear, structured, and engaging written communications products (e.g., memos, emails, social media posts, short-form content, blogs, talking points/scripts, Q&A) that rigorously follow conventions of written English, aligning with firm leadership when necessary. You will contribute (through brainstorming, editing, writing, and/or creating) to the strategic development of external and/or internal communications (e.g., paid media, earned media, CRM support, social media support). You'll assist in the planning and execution of communications for reports, special projects (e.g., digital strategy design, knowledge partnership strategy), external/internal conferences, and events (e.g., forums, webinars, roundtables). Additionally, you will be expected to follow branding guidelines (i.e., firm's signature voice, visuals, and narrative) across communications platforms and channels in support of relevant brand pivots.
In terms of project management and execution: you will perform relevant quality and risk reviews of communications, proactively identifying and raising risks with colleagues, and suggesting potential courses of action. You will stay up to date on latest thought leadership and relevant industry content and insights, and ensure they are built into messaging strategically. You will contribute to relevant data tracking within operations and data collection for potential client leads, providing updates to leadership when necessary. You'll also build and maintain contact databases to maximize dissemination and engagement.
This role is a six month temporary role.
