Job description

Located approximately 26 miles from the City of Fairbanks, Fort Knox is a centre of excellence for the Company as one of the few cold weather heap leach facilities in the world. Fort Knox celebrated its 25-year anniversary in 2021, and has produced over 8.5 million ounces since it began operation. In 2020, Kinross acquired Manh Choh - a project expected to commence production in 2024 and process ore at Fort Knox.
Fort Knox prioritizes being a strong contributor to the State and local communities, and since 2001, has helped support more than 300 community partners and has contributed more than US$25 million to the Alaska Mental Health Trust.
Job Summary
The Mill Planner's primary functions are to assist Senior Planners in all aspects or their duties, to coordinate and facilitate Ore Processing maintenance projects and to coordinate and facilitate weekly planning meetings, utilizing information from said meetings to produce a weekly mill maintenance schedule that aligns with operations and maintenance needs. Additional responsibilities will be managing work orders, organizing down day planning, managing wear timers as well as expanding the current wear timers to include key pieces of equipment and wear areas that are not currently being tracked. This position will work closely with the materials coordinator to ensure that the necessary parts and tools are on site, and staged before the work is scheduled.
Essential Functions
1. Coordinate and facilitate weekly planning meetings, accurately scribing notes.
2. Manage ore processing work orders within JD Edwards.
3. Actively update wear timers and create wear tracking data for wear areas and equipment that are not currently being tracked.
4. Prepare and communicate plans for maintenance shutdowns.
5. Manage and report updates during maintenance shutdowns, including Lockout/Tag-out of major pieces of equipment.
6. Work closely with the materials coordinator in order to properly plan work order scheduling to align with parts/specialty equipment availability.
7. Assist Mill departments with equipment rentals.
8. Deliver OPG timecards to administration every week.
9. Assist planning department with non-stock parts requisitions.
10. Organize and facilitate annual inspections, Crane, Pressure Vessel, Mill Gear, etc.
11. Identify scheduling concerns and potential issues and present them to management at an early stage.
12. Report WO completion compliance and noncompliance to ensure maintenance KPI's are within corporate guidelines.
13. Conduct field walks to monitor production activity throughout an outage, comparing actual progress to planned progress.
14. Conduct regular visual inspections of Mill liners, chute wear and rubber lining during shutdowns and schedule WO's or contractors based on findings.
15. Review data from NDT reports to ensure proactive planning.
16. Assist with managing and updating down-day calendar
17. Input weekly maintenance crews "estimated available manpower" into JDE for KPI tracking.
Qualifications and Skill Requirements
1. High School Diploma or equivalent necessary.
2. 3+ years of related industry experience in maintenance or planning preferred.
3. Experience in milling and crushing equipment maintenance and operation
4. Must have positive attitude and willingness to help wherever necessary
5. Fluent in the use and/or understanding of:
• Computerized Maintenance Management Software (JDEdwards)
• Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and Project)
• Interpretation of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
