JOB DESCRIPTION


Position Title: Journeyman Machinist (Screw machine)

Immediate Supervisor: Department Supervisor

Position Classification: Full Time โ€“ Non Exempt

Position Work Schedule: Monday โ€“ Thursday 6:00-4:30


Summary:

To safely set up and operate Screw Machines (Wickman and Acme)

Essential Functions:

  • With safety and quality in mind, set-up and operate machine(s) to perform operations to appropriate specifications
  • Determine and set up any jigs or special attachments needed to complete a production operation
  • Read and interpret all blueprints or drawings necessary to perform the assigned production operation
  • Grind forms and other tooling
  • Inspect machine and product against tolerances using micrometers, calipers and other precision measuring tools
  • Familiar with standard measurements that are used for threads and tapers, know working qualities of various metals and alloys
  • Work under minimal supervision
  • Familiar with Wickman/Acme screw machines


Secondary Duties:

  • Perform all other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or manager

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Physical Demands

  • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Long periods of standing - 10 hours per day
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distanced vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Education and Experience:

  • High school degree or equivalent desired.
  • Post-secondary schooling desired
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar position is required.
