Position Summary

The Chem Lab Technician is responsible for supporting research, development, application and manufacturing activities. This role plays a critical part in preparing, testing, and refining materials and developing processes, while ensuring accuracy, repeatability, and efficiency in lab and pilot-scale environments.

The Chem Lab Technician operates with a high level of independence.

Key Responsibilities

• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions 

• Execute experiments and material processing with minimal supervision 

• Prepare (lab and manufacturing scale) and conduct QC of dispersions and inks

• Conduct screen printing and drawdown of inks

• Operate laboratory (processing and analytical) and manufacturing-scale equipment 

• Construct and install experiment setup and processing equipment

• Perform equipment troubleshooting, repair and preventive maintenance as needed 

• Assist engineers and scientists with experiment setup, troubleshooting, and data collection 

• Record experimental data, observations, and results 

• Maintain cleanliness, housekeeping and safety compliance in all work areas

• Assist with inventory of lab materials and supplies

Qualifications

• Three or more years’ experience in chemical manufacturing or lab work

• Experience in the use of basic lab equipment (balances, pH meters, mixers and pumps)

• Demonstrated knowledge of chemical safety processes and procedures including hazard communications and personal protective equipment

• Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain accurate documentation 

• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Proficient with MS Office software

• Intuitive with strong attention to detail and quality-minded

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
