Objective
This position is responsible for protecting, safeguarding, and securing assets, personnel, customers, and visitors.
Essential Functions
Be able to read and understand the English language to effectively carry out applied printed rules, detailed orders, instructions, and training materials. Have a command of both the written and spoken English language to communicate in person properly and clearly or via electronic devices (telephone and radio) with co-workers and the public. The ability to maintain a professional, tactful and courteous demeanor under stressful situations security personnel routinely encounter. Be able to compose in the English language precise short paragraphs, written reports, and other reports as necessary.
Job Duties
  • Performs security patrols.
  • Enforces access control procedures.
  • Protects property from theft, embezzlement, sabotage, fire, and accidents.
  • Investigates and writes reports on accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, safety and fire hazards and other security related situations.
  • Aid customers, employees and visitors following the department's procedures.
  • Compliance with the Embassy's and Consulate's public access charter and with written or verbal instructions from the security detachment.
  • Security company personnel must respect the equipment provided and ensure the cleanliness of the premises.
  • The security guard must be able to use a messaging system and print out guest lists, fill out handwritten logs, scan identity documents and file them.
  • The security guard must take deliveries, letters and parcels and deliver them to the mail room.
  • May perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Proficient in English
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Must be fully capable of performing duties requiring moderate to arduous physical exertion and must be fully capable of self-defense, tactical exercises and weaponless defense.
  • Shall be proficient with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) to draft reports, prepare presentations, etc.
  • State Unarmed License.
  • Being Fluent in French is required
Additional Qualifications:
The applicant is required to submit to pre-employment medical exam and drug screening.
The applicant must be able to pass an NLIC / State / Local Background check and Credit check (as applicable).
