Job description


GFL Environmental is looking for an Industrial Services Technician to support our Thunder Bay location!

The day to day responsibilities of this role will include: environmental and safety monitoring at our site, specialized industrial cleaning, unloading trucks, operating forklift, truck and power washers, and administrative duties as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for day to day monitoring or assigned project.

  • Maintain cleanliness of Tools and Equipment and Industrial Services Shop.

  • Power washing and High Pressure Water blasting as required.

  • Line snaking, Drain and Pipe Inspections as required.

  • Industrial cleaning of chemical non-hazardous and hazardous wastes.

  • Assist on Vacuum Trucks/plant operations as required.

  • Confined Space Entry/ Rescue as required for Industrial Services Projects.

  • Working in tight or cramped spaces.

  • Working while using Respirator or Supplied Air Breathing Apparatus.

  • Shoveling, Jack Hammering, Squeegee, Scraping and heavy lifting as required.

  • Operate Pick-up truck, utility trailer, forklift, excavator, bobcat, etc.

  • Operate Aerial boom lift/Scissor Lift as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

  • 2-5 years' experience in Industrial Cleaning and Maintenance strongly preferred.

  • Experience working in Industrial settings an asset.

  • Previous experience with Vacuum Trucks, Industrial Power-washing or Water-blasting, or Liquid Waste Industry experience strongly preferred.

  • Previous experience with Confined Space Entry or Work at Heights an asset.

  • Experience working with Respirators and Supplied Air Systems an asset.

  • Lift truck, scissor lift or zoom boom ticket an asset.

  • Ability to work flexible hours/shifts, days, evenings, nights & possibly weekends or holidays.

  • Class G license required.
