Position SummaryThe Medical Director, Global Medical Affairs, Nephrology will provide scientific leadership and medical expertise to support the clinical development of civorebrutinib in immune-mediated renal diseases. The successful candidate will partner closely with Clinical Development to execute scientific strategy, engage external experts, identify evidence gaps, and build the scientific foundation required for successful late-stage development. This individual will serve as the Global Medical Affairs lead for civorebrutinib (EVER001), While civorebrutinib will be this individual's primary focus, the role will also support the broader nephrology franchise, including Sparsentan (FILSPARI), as needed.
As the program advances through clinical development and toward future launch, the Medical Director will help drive and execute the Global Medical Affairs strategy and tactical plan for civorebrutinib, partnering closely with Clinical Development, Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory Affairs, Scientific Communications, and Field Medical. This individual will play a key role in engaging external experts, identifying evidence gaps, generating actionable medical insights, and translating them into integrated strategies that support evidence generation and scientific excellence across the product lifecycle.
The ideal candidate will bring scientific expertise in nephrology and/or immunology, a demonstrated track record of Medical Affairs success in biotech or pharma, and the scientific acumen, strategic thinking, and communication skills to influence stakeholders and thrive in a matrixed, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities: Strategy & Scientific Leadership- Provide scientific leadership and help execute the Global Medical Affairs strategy and tactical plan for civorebrutinib (EVER001), aligned with clinical development and evidence-generation objectives as the program progresses.
- Develop and maintain deep scientific expertise in civorebrutinib, immune-mediated renal kidney diseases, the competitive landscape, emerging clinical data, and evolving standards of care.
- Support broader Global Medical Affairs activities across Travere's nephrology franchise, including Sparsentan (FILSPARI), contributing to franchise-level scientific strategy and execution as needed.
- Lead the global KOL engagement strategy, including identification, prioritization, scientific exchange, and long-term relationship development with key opinion leaders, investigators, professional societies, and patient advocacy organizations.
- Oversee the planning, development, execution, and measurement of scientific engagement activities, including advisory boards, expert panels, investigator meetings, and other scientific forums.
- Partner with Field Medical to support external scientific engagement, evidence generation activities, medical education, field training, and collection of actionable medical insights from the field.
- Translate insights gathered from KOL interactions, congresses, advisory boards, competitive intelligence, and field medical activities into strategic recommendations that inform clinical development and evidence-generation plans.
- Drive scientific competitive intelligence activities and communicate emerging trends, competitive data, and market dynamics to internal stakeholders.
- Partner with Scientific Communications to develop and execute scientific messaging, the Scientific Communication Platform (SCP), publication strategy, congress strategy, and medical education.
- Contribute to the development and execution of Integrated Evidence Planning (IEP), identifying evidence gaps and prioritizing clinical, real-world, health economics, and investigator-sponsored research opportunities.
- Collaborate with Market Access and HEOR teams to support evidence generation, scientific value communication, and payer engagement strategies.
- Collaborate with Clinical Development, HEOR, Market Access, Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, Commercial, and Field Medical to ensure an integrated medical strategy throughout product development.
- Partner with global, regional, and affiliate medical teams to ensure regional execution aligns with global medical strategy and that regional and field insights inform planning.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of internal scientific training programs to ensure cross-functional teams remain current on emerging science, clinical data, competitive intelligence, and medical strategy.
- Collaborate closely with Clinical Development to support the civorebrutinib clinical trial program, including investigator and site engagement, and medical support as needed.
- Support annual Medical Affairs strategic and tactical planning and cross-functional execution for the nephrology portfolio.
- Define and track medical KPIs that demonstrate the impact of Medical Affairs activities on scientific, business, and patient outcomes.
- Partner with Strategy & Operations to ensure effective Medical Affairs processes, systems, governance, planning, and operational execution across the nephrology therapeutic area.
- Manage Medical Affairs vendors, budgets, timelines, and project execution to ensure delivery of high-quality programs on time and within budget.
- Represent Travere at scientific congresses, investigator meetings, medical society meetings, advocacy events, and other external scientific engagements.
- Demonstrate the highest standards of scientific integrity, patient focus, compliance, and ethical conduct while fostering a collaborative, innovative, and high-performing Medical Affairs culture.
- MD, MD/PhD, PharmD, PharmD/PhD, DO, or other advanced clinical or scientific degree in a relevant life sciences discipline. Equivalent combinations of education and applicable Medical Affairs experience may be considered.
- 6+ years of relevant Medical Affairs experience within the biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical industry, including experience supporting products in clinical development and/or commercialization required.
- Clinical and/or Medical Affairs experience in nephrology and/or immunology is required; broader autoimmune or rare disease experience strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting clinical development and evidence generation across the product lifecycle preferred.
- Demonstrated experience engaging with key opinion leaders (KOLs), investigators, professional societies, and patient advocacy organizations.
- Experience supporting scientific communications, publication planning, medical education, congress strategy, and advisory boards.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional partners, including Clinical Development, Commercial, Market Access, HEOR, Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, Scientific Communications, and Field Medical.
