Description

Babbitting Service Inc (BSI) operates in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where product availability, inventory accuracy, and supplier coordination are critical to our production success. We are seeking detail-oriented and motivated Procurement Specialist who must possess blueprint reading skills to join our purchasing team. 


This role is responsible for supporting production through effective purchasing, inventory management, and supplier coordination to ensure a consistent flow of materials. 


Schedule:

Onsite, first shift

Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee purchase orders (POs) from quoting through delivery by monitoring supplier lead times and following up on open orders to maintain accurate records of expected arrival dates
  • Maintain accurate expected deliver dates and purchasing records
  • Ensure appropriate inventory levels of supplies across the facility
  • Assist in maintaining appropriate inventory levels on supplies throughout facility
  • Communicate regularly with vendors to confirm availability, pricing, and shipment timelines
  • Negotiate pricing and/or lead times with suppliers to meet budget and scheduling
  • Resolve supplier issues including delays, shortages, quality concerns, and discrepancies
  • Collaborate with warehouse staff and sales team to ensure availability of supplies
  • Identify and implement cost-reduction opportunities (e.g., order consolidation, standardization, competitive bidding)
  • Interpret blueprint drawings to support sourcing of machined components and respond to supplier inquiries
  • Support inventory cycle counts and continuous inventory improvement initiatives
  • Assist with supplier audits and performance evaluations 
  • Scout new potential suppliers and perform pre-qualifications

Requirements

  • Proficient, ability to read and interpret blueprints (minimum of two (2) years blueprint reading experience)
  • Minimum of one (1) year purchasing experience in a manufacturing field 
  • Effective communication and vendor management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft 
  • Experience managing purchase orders in a manufacturing setting
  • Experience working with ERP systems
