Job description

Overview

The Advanced Regenerative Manufacturing Institute (ARMl)IBioFabUSA is a Member-based non-profit, member-driven, public-private partnership with a mission to advance the bioeconomy and transform the future of human health. ARMI provides technical and wrap-around commercialization services to companies seeking to advance technologies that will contribute to this impact.

The Impact That You Will Make

ARMI is seeking a highly motivated scientist to join our growing Multi-Omics group to develop and apply state-of-the-art methodologies to interrogate small molecule signatures within our bioprocesses. The successful candidate will spearhead efforts to characterize metabolomics and lipidomics profiles across processes in manufacturing cell-based therapy products, collaborating across groups for multi-omic analysis. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in untargeted metabolomics and/or lipidomics and extensive hands-on experience with sample handling automation, LC-MS instrumentation, and data analysis software platforms.

Your Role

  • Develop an optimized pipeline for deep, untargeted analysis of polar metabolites and lipids from bioreactor cultured cells and conditioned media.
  • Prepare bioreactor samples for liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis, leveraging automation for improved throughput.
  • Operate and maintain Thermo LC-MS instrumentation, including Vanquish UHPLC, Exploris 480, and IQ-X.
  • Analyze LC-MS raw data with processing software including Compound Discoverer, LipidSearch, MZmine, and Python/R scripting.
  • Collaborate closely within the Multi-Omics group and across Process Development and Data Science groups to discover and communicate biological insights that will deliver impact.
  • Engage with Operations Support, service engineers, and vendors for instrument maintenance, optimization, and upgrades.
  • Adhere to safety and quality guidelines and SOPs.

Your Skills and Experiences

  • Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or related area. MS with 5-10 years of experience or PhD with 2-5 years postgraduate experience.
  • Significant hands-on experience across all stages of untargeted small molecule analyses: sample preparation, mass spectrometric analyses, and data processing and interpretation.
  • Familiarity with lab automation and higher-throughput workflows. Experience with Biomek systems is a plus.
  • Good communication skills, proactive attitude, and results-driven mindset.

Work Environment & Schedule Expectations

  • Work in a laboratory environment with exposure to biological materials, chemical reagents, and analytical instrumentation.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and safely operate laboratory equipment.
  • Occasional work outside of regular business hours, including evening, weekend, or overtime work may be required to support critical project timelines and business needs.
  • Limited travel may be required for conferences, training, or client meetings.

By applying, I understand that any offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check, in accordance with applicable laws.
