Join our dedicated Scientific Support team at Unity Lab Services, providing tailored lab services and supply management. We seek an enthusiastic Lab Specialist to be responsible for chemical inventory, lab support functions like glasswasher, and scientific support such as buffer preparation, ensuring labs are well-stocked, compliant, and operate efficiently.
A day in the Life:
  • Protein aliquots, sample preparation, and data analytics
  • Endotoxin testing, Micro-capillary electrophoresis, HPLC, high throughput purification platform "P3" automated instrument, and mass spectrometry.
  • Maintain buffer levels and waste management
  • Column and instrument maintenance (HPLC, MCE, AKTA, P3)
  • May perform other duties as assigned

Keys to Success:
Education
  • HS Diploma & Associate's degree in related field required

Experience
1-2 years of work experience in a lab setting required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Excel, Outlook, Teams).

  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a safety-first approach.
  • Ability to work independently and in team setting.

  • Ability to read and understand SDS documentation and DOT labeling requirements.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment
  • The role primarily involves working independently at customer sites, which may include areas with chemical-based allergens like penicillin and tetracycline.

  • Personal protective equipment, such as lab coats, coveralls, facemasks, and steel-toe shoes, is often required.

  • The position requires regular lifting of 30-40 lbs (up to 50 lbs occasionally) and using equipment like pushcarts and forklifts to move up to 100 lbs. Standing, walking, and manual material handling of chemical containers are frequent activities, sometimes in varied temperature environments.

  • Overtime work may also be necessary.

  • As a condition of your employment with Thermo Fisher Scientific, you must successfully complete and satisfy Thermo Fisher's pre-employment screening (including background check and drug test) and any customer-mandated screening, credentialing, or badging requirements. Compensation and Benefits
The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $21.82-$32.00.
This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
