Summary:
Aquatech is a global leader in water purification systems technology for industrial and infrastructure markets located in the United States and internationally. We support our clients with sustainable water purification systems and technologies that are solving the world's water scarcity challenges.
Aquatech has an immediate need for a full-time Government Relations Intern to work in our Canonsburg, PA office this summer. The hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The Intern will perform the duties described in the job description below and will be considered a non-exempt employee.
The Government Relations Intern will assist managers on a variety of projects. As a government relations intern, you should expect to assist with the coordination and management of Government Relations initiatives, including working with other departments to gather relevant data and coordinate many of the Company's advocacy efforts. The role will be focused on helping to execute on significant projects within the business and will require organizational skills. This role is an exciting opportunity in a fast-paced environment that requires a 'customer-first' orientation to succeed. The Government Relations Intern will work with the Aquatech government relations team to prepare for and carry out legislative advocacy activities. This position provides opportunities to participate in meetings with key stakeholders, legislative meetings, trade association meetings/events, and advocacy events. This individual will have significant involvement with the government relations team and other key corporate functions.
Minimum Qualifications / Experience:
Prior business exposure through internships, work experiences, or campus organizations
Currently pursuing a major in Political Science, Public Relations, Communication or related fields
General knowledge and awareness of government processes
Job Description:
  • The Government Relations Intern should be prepared to assist in the development and presentation of materials for use by Aquatech personnel in lobbying and outreach efforts,
  • Create slides or other visual presentations, write promotional material, articles, updates for social media sites and coordinates press releases with the Communications Department,
  • Coordinate various tasks related to special outreach efforts,
  • Track current legislation and amendments moving through the congressional process,
  • Cover congressional hearings/markups and other policy events; summarizing policy debates, monitor statements from policymakers and experts,
  • Maintain vote/policy stance/target grids and other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Skill Requirements:
Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree from a United States-based college or university and authorized to work in the United States
Interest in politics, government, public policy or communications
Willingness to work in a non-partisan manner
Strong research, writing, communications skills, effective problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and successfully prioritize and manage multiple projects at once
Comfort with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Internship:
Aquatech Internships are in the office five days per week, 40 hours per week. The internship program is temporary employment that lasts for a maximum duration of ninety (90) days. Successful completion of this internship will provide you with invaluable skills in the water treatment industry and make a compelling addition to your professional journey.
