Job Title:Earth Science Lecturer (9M)Department:Lima | Campus

The Lima campus of The Ohio State University seeks a 9M lecturer to teach earth sciences courses during 2026-2027. The lecturer will teach one lecture course and one lab course Autumn Semester 2026 and one lecture course Spring Semester 2027. The successful candidates will have a strong commitment to the teaching mission of The Ohio State University and experience teaching lecture and lab courses.

Courses:

Autumn Semester: EARTHSCI 1105 (Geology of the National Parks), EARTHSCI 1200 (Introductory Earth Science Lab)

Spring Semester: EARTHSCI 2205 (The Planets)

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in relevant field of study
  • Evidence of expertise in effective teaching at the undergraduate level
  • 5+ year(s) teaching experience at the college level, prior experience developing courses

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience teaching within The Ohio State University, land-grant university, and/or regional campuses

The College

The Ohio State University at Lima offered its first classes in 1960. The Lima campus sits on565 acreswhich iscomprisedof270 acresofwoods,35 acresof natural prairie, 200 tillable acres, and60 acresthatcontainthe academic campus (buildings, greens, and parking lots). There are 10 buildings on campus, four of which are shared with our collocated institution, Rhodes State College (RSC). Ohio State Lima also has twooff-campusteaching sites: Ohio State Lima at Mercy Health St. Rita's for its anatomy/cadaver lab (1,400 square feet) and Ohio State Lima at the Engineering Education and Manufacturing Center at the Ford Engine Plant which houses five labs, 12 classrooms and breakout rooms and a 300-seat auditorium.

Ohio State Lima currently enrolls 818 students who are taught and supported by 26 tenure track faculty, 52 associated faculty, 5 visiting faculty, and 56 staff members. Outside of the classroom, students have vast opportunities for experience through internships, undergraduate research, leadership projects, and community engagement.

The Department

The education class sizes on the Lima campus are small, often around 20 students or less, and allow for a close interaction between instructor and students. Our campus also offersnumerousacademic enrichment opportunities to our students, including Honors, Undergraduate Research, Service Learning, and Study Abroad.
