Senior Director, Global Communications - Executive Communications (Walmart, Bentonville, AR).

Position Summary

The Senior Director, Communications - Executive Communications will serve as the enterprise executive communications lead and speechwriter for Walmart's president and CEO. This leader works directly with the CEO to shape content consistent with Walmart's global narrative, identifies strategic platforms internally and externally to deliver this content, and develops materials including speeches, presentations, fact sheets, briefing materials, and more. In addition, this leader supervises a team of executive communications professionals who support Walmart's Cโ€‘suite corporate function business partners in Finance, People, Global Governance, Corporate Affairs, and Global Tech. Together with segment executive communications leads across the enterprise, the team develops content strategies for major events, manages relationships with outside conference partners, identifies executive speaking opportunities, and provides executive communications training.

What you'll do
  • Work closely with the Chief Communications Officer and serve as a strategic communications counselor to Walmart's CEO.
  • Prepare speeches, presentations, and talking points primarily for external audiences.
  • Design executive communications plans and platforms that showcase Walmart leadership and expand awareness of Walmart's strategy.
  • Apply creative ways to tell stories and determine the ways to reach and engage with target audiences.
  • Continuously challenge and improve the effectiveness of communication efforts, and monitor & analyze activities to inform future decision making.
  • Coach, staff and prepare top leaders for speaking engagements.
  • Further develop and oversee an internal communications speaker training program.
  • Utilize technology tools including GenAI to ensure you and your team operate effectively and efficiently.
  • Nurture a worldโ€‘class executive communications team with impact across the enterprise.

Live Better U is a Walmartโ€‘paid education benefit program for fullโ€‘time and partโ€‘time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. Programs range from high school completion to bachelor's degrees, including English Language Learning and shortโ€‘form certificates. Tuition, books and fees are completely paid for by Walmart. Eligibility requirements apply and benefits are subject to change.

Annual salary range: $130,000.00 โ€“ $260,000.00.

  • Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, or a related field and 6 yearsโ€™ experience in journalism, communications, or relevant area OR 8 yearsโ€™ experience in journalism, communications, or relevant area.
  • 2 years supervisory experience.
