Job description

Position Type: Graduate Assistant
Reports to: Academic Coordinator and Dean, School of Professional and Applied Sciences
JOB PURPOSE: The GA's primary purpose is to support the Academic Coordinator, the Dean and faculty. The position requires 20 hours per week of work on campus during the Fall and Spring semesters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES include but are not limited to:
  • Maintain a welcoming attitude to all students, faculty and staff and positively represent the Department of Business and the MBA program both on and off campus.
  • Serve as office assistant for the Department of Business & Economics, creating work orders, answering phones, inventorying supplies, Assisting the Academic Coordinator, etc.
  • Develop marketing, promotion, and advertising of programs and events via email, posters, and social media.
  • Assist in keeping brochures, website and marketing materials updated.
  • Locating and analyzing research articles pertaining to faculty areas of research.
  • Data entry, statistical analysis, or development of graphics
  • Management of Digital Monitors
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be accepted into the MBA program at the University of Lynchburg.
  • Must maintain a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA.
  • Must be in good disciplinary standing with the University.

ORAL AND WRITTEN REQUIREMENTS:
  • Excellent oral and written skills for effective communication with individuals and large groups.
  • Excellent reading comprehension and writing abilities.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
  • Demonstrate administrative skills and experience.
  • Computer knowledge of word processing applications.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Excellent typing skills.
  • Must be courteous and people-oriented.

MINIMUM EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's Degree is required.
