Job description

Data Administrator, based in Herndon, VA

A leading enterprise technology organization is looking for a Data Administrator to support the administration, maintenance, security, and performance of enterprise data platforms and database environments. This is a hybrid role based in Herndon, VA, with an expectation of being in the office 3 days per week, subject to business needs.

This role sits at the intersection of database administration, enterprise data management, cloud platforms, and analytics, supporting enterprise data and analytics environments. You'll help ensure data remains accurate, secure, compliant, and accessible to authorized users while supporting data connectivity, governance, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience administering relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or similar technologies
  • Working knowledge of SQL and database query optimization
  • Experience with enterprise data platforms, cloud environments, or analytics technologies
  • Understanding of data governance, privacy, security, and compliance principles
  • Experience with system monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning
  • Understanding of role-based security and access management
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and business teams
  • Must be a US Citizen and hold only US citizenship - no dual citizens

  • Experience supporting cloud-based data platforms

  • Monitor database and platform performance and troubleshoot issues
  • Support data connectivity between source systems and analytics platforms
  • Manage access controls, connections, and governance processes
  • Support enterprise reporting, dashboards, analytics, and planning environments
  • Assist with data modeling and semantic layer support
  • Troubleshoot access, connectivity, and performance issues
  • Support backup, recovery, monitoring, and system reliability processes
  • Assist analysts, developers, and business users with data-related issues
  • Maintain security documentation, access records, and audit support materials
  • Help ensure enterprise data remains accurate, secure, compliant, and accessible
