Job Summary:
Teaches content and skills in Science to middle school students
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Supports ISAAC's Core Values and Beliefs About Learning and the Vision of the Graduate
  • Utilizes expertise in science to revise the curriculum to meet the level of rigor for all students in a cultural and diverse classroom
  • Instructs students through lessons that are engaging and motivates all students to succeed in the common core state standards
  • Adapts Science material and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments and lesson plans that guide and challenge students.
  • Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with ISAAC's instructional philosophy and congruent with the goals of the school
  • Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student and subgroups of students.
  • Evaluates academic and social growth of students, keeps accurate and appropriate school records, and other recordkeeping activities as necessary.
  • Encourages students to think independently and to express original ideas.
  • Promotes student discussion through the daily use of Accountable Talk
  • Evaluates each student's progress in meeting the course standards for Science
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
  • Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve learning and health problems
  • Communicates with parents and SRBI Team on student progress.
  • Supervises students in assigned out-of-classroom activities during the work day.
  • Participates in faculty committees and engages in Professional Learning Community activities.
  • Administers summative assessments in accordance with the curriculum and SDE requirements.

Education and Experience:
  • Classroom teaching experience and proven record of high achievement with middle school students preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree from a competitive college or university; Master's degree a plus.
  • Certification: Valid CT Certification.
