In this position you will provide advanced technical support and laboratory analysis using qualitative and quantitative analytical techniques and instrumentation to determine water pollution constituents and treatment efficiencies of industrial and domestic water treatment processes and generate plant effectiveness data for Federal Environmental Protection Agency. Laboratory analysis follows Environmental Protection Agency, Code of Federal Regulation, Title 40 for analysis of pollutants under the Clean Water Act.

A current State of Georgia Wastewater Laboratory Analyst Certificate is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
I. Knowledge of chemistry theory, principles and practices
2. Knowledge of the principles of mathematics and statistics. Knowledge of simple and advance quantitative and qualitative anal)1ical methods in chemistry.
3. Knowledge of quality assurance and quality control principles, practices, and procedures.
4. Knowledge of Laboratory information Management Systems.
5. Ability to operate and maintain analytical equipment used in a laboratory environment
6. Ability to read, interpret, and write operating procedures and other technical data.
7. Ability to apply good and safe laboratory practices.
8. Ability to gather, analyze, organize, and present data and supporting analyses.
9. Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
Other significant facts pertaining to the position:
1. The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance. A valid state driver's license is required.
2. As required, may train and/or guide personnel in performance of duties.
3. Required to obtain job-related certifications.
4. Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Determination: The actual work performed in this position has been reviewed and determined that it does not meet any of the exemption criteria defined in 5 CFR 55 I; therefore this position has been designated as nonexempt.
5. AF2539-Bargaining Unit Status does not meet 7112(a) of the Federal Service Labor Management Relations Statue.
6. A current State of Georgia Wastewater Laboratory Analyst Certificate is required.
