Labcorp is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join our team in Madison, WI!

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 6:30 am-3:15 pm CST some weekends required.

Job Responsibilities:

The Veterinary Technician will support the Veterinarian by performing radiographs, collecting blood and fecal samples, routine animal care procedures such as dog dentals, physical exams, monitoring animal health and other veterinary laboratory procedures as well as surgical requirements (non-surgery suite) including but not limited to the following duties and responsibilities in compliance with appropriate SOP, Protocol, and Regulatory Agency guidelines:

  • Ensure animal care complies with regulatory guidelines and ethical standards.

  • Perform animal husbandry duties as needed.

  • Report and assist in resolving animal care concerns.

  • Interpret and follow basic study protocols.

  • Apply good research practices (GxP) principles.

  • Review documentation and understand QA audit requirements.

  • Maintain client confidentiality.

  • Utilize computer software for study activities.

  • Conduct study procedures per protocol, SOPs, and regulations.

  • Learn and perform medicant administration, physical exams, dosing, sample collection, and restraint techniques.

  • Learn and assist with euthanasia methods, surgical prep, anesthesia, and surgical procedures.

  • Manage time and resources effectively.

  • Support other departments with study-related tasks (e.g., restraint, blood collection).

  • Gain knowledge of ACUA and IACUC activities.

  • Build positive relationships with veterinary staff and other teams.

  • Participate in process improvement projects as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Life Sciences field (e.g., Biology, Wildlife, Pre-veterinary, Zoology, Genetics, Environmental Biology, Animal Science, or related discipline), OR an Associate degree in Laboratory Animal Technology or Veterinary Technology, OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and 6 months or more of hands-on experience in Life Sciences (such as biology, chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, genetics, or animal science) that provides the knowledge and skills required for the role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6 months or more experience in an animal related field.

  • CVT - Certified Veterinary Technician.

  • 6 months or more experience in a vivarium setting with familiarity in animal welfare standards (IACUC, AAALAC, or similar guidelines).

  • Reliable adherence to protocols, SOPs, and regulatory guidelines.

  • Demonstrated attention to detail

  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed.

  • Exceptional customer service.

  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal.

  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.

  • Comfortable working under minimal supervision.

  • Willingness to learn and adapt, including new equipment, procedures, or compliance requirements.

Pay Range: $23/hr.-$25/hr. After initial training period (based on performance) $.50 increase.​ All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
