  • Place an emphasis on developing scientific thinkers by inviting students to ask questions and by providing a supportive space for students to think their way through difficult scientific concepts
  • Help students see the relevance of science in their everyday lives, as well as equip students with the tools necessary to be innovative problem solvers within modern day society
  • Prepare all students for success with New York State Regents Science exams

Position Requirements:

  • Content Knowledge: A strong background knowledge of science is essential to guiding student learning.

  • Critical Thinking: Create environments where students have the opportunity to creatively think and apply knowledge.
  • Added Value: Each Preston faculty member must add value to the group, both inside and outside of the classroom. The ideal candidate will participate in science related co-curriculars such as the STEM club or Engineering Tomorrow Labs
  • In-Class Differentiation: Students come to Preston with a wide variety of background knowledge. The ideal teacher learns individual students strengths and challenges and uses a variety of teaching methods to reach different learning styles.
  • Professionalism: Teachers are held to a high standard of professionalism. Many of our parents are working professionals and many have at least one university degree. Therefore, our interactions and communication with the students and their parents must be held to the highest standards.
