Job description

School Counselor Position Available

Sylvan Learning is looking for a licensed school counselor to join our team of proud educators. We are the leading provider in K-12 tutoring in the United States. We work with students in public and non-public schools to support their educational needs. We believe in helping students thrive in the classroom. We are looking for someone who can help our students in an in-school setting.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Provide individual, small group and classroom guidance (if needed) counseling with students. Students must have signed parental consent. Counseling is provided to enhance and grow school functioning and performance.
  • Consult with parents, classroom teachers, school principal and other school personnel to maximize effectiveness of services, as appropriate.
  • Help teacher teams with assessments.
  • Serve as a resource for parents and school personnel to assist in locating services that assist individuals in our community.
  • Participate in supervision on regular basis with the Program Supervisor.
  • Complete all required paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Keep up to date with best practices and trends in the field of school counseling.
  • Perform services in an in-school capacity

Qualifications:

  • Must have a current and active license as an LCSW under the Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners or as an LPC under the Louisiana State Board of Licensed Professional Counselors
  •  Must hold a valid Ancillary Certificate from the Louisiana Department of Education in one of the following areas: Mental Health Counselor - Provisional, Mental Health Counselor - Qualified, Social Worker - Provisional, Social Worker - Qualified, School Guidance Counselor K-12
