Summary
This position is with Child and Youth Services at the Redstone Arsenal.
Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Child and Youth Services (CYS) Employee Childcare Fee:
  • Available to MWR CYS Regular and FLEX (working a minimum of 15 hours)
  • First Child: 100% childcare fee discount (all CYS employees)
  • Second and Subsequent Child: At least 25% childcare fee discount (all CYS employees)

Help
  • Develops and follows efficient, consistent and safe bus routes for routine trips (e.g., to and from school) to minimize transportation time.
  • Ensures the safety and well-being of children, youth and adults being transported to and from the program and on field trips.
  • Practices bus evacuation following prescribed procedures with children and youth on a monthly basis.
  • Arranges for and ensures completion of routine maintenance of bus (e.g., oil change) transporting the bus to and from maintenance facilities.
  • Completes a comprehensive written inspection of the bus daily, reporting any concerns to the supervisor before transporting children/youth.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age at time of appointment. Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.

  • Schedule includes irregular hours, evenings, and/or weekends. Duties involve working both indoors and outdoors under different types of weather conditions.
  • This position requires mandatory drug testing.
  • Satisfactory performance and successful completion of Annual training requirements within prescribed time frame are required.
  • This position requires mandated reporting of all suspected incidents of child abuse/neglect.
  • The physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs, walk, bend, stoop, and stand on a routine basis is required.
  • The appropriate driver's license must be valid and current.

Allowances and Differentials
  • This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week - whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
