Behavior Technician – School-Based (1:1 Support)
Job Overview

The Behavior Technician provides educational and behavioral support services to students with special needs in a school-based setting. Working collaboratively with educators, behavioral specialists, and related professionals, the Behavior Technician helps students achieve individualized learning, behavioral, and developmental goals.

This position involves providing dedicated 1:1 support to a student within a self-contained classroom environment. The ideal candidate is patient, compassionate, and experienced working with students who exhibit significant behavioral challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct 1:1 behavioral and educational support to assigned student.
  • Implement behavior intervention plans and instructional strategies as directed.
  • Support students in achieving academic, social, emotional, and behavioral goals.
  • Collaborate with teachers, school staff, behavioral specialists, and other professionals.
  • Document student progress and behavioral observations as required.
  • Assist with behavior management techniques in accordance with student care plans.
  • Promote a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support students with high behavioral needs, including:
    • Physical and verbal aggression
    • Elopement behaviors
    • Self-injurious behaviors (SIB)
    • Tantrums
    • Work refusal
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Two (2) years of pediatric experience preferred.
  • Current CPR certification if applicable.
  • TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray if applicable.
  • Must meet all applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
