Job description

Position Title: Scenic Run CrewDepartment: SceneryPosition Summary The run crew is an integral part of the production team responsible for evening backstage operations. Working outdoors, the crew's tasks include moving scenery safely, on time and in a well-coordinated manner, as well as securing the scenic elements following the end of each performance.ResponsibilitiesPre-set scenic elements prior to performancesPerform scenic shifts throughout the performancePerform responsibilities with theatrical flying (FOY) equipment and assisting performers during showsAssist with the on-going inspection of each scenic element to identify needed repairsGenerate and maintain all paperwork assigned by the Crew LeadAdhere to/enforce all rules and regulations required by the Actor's Equity Association, including Covid-19 additionsAbility to work with performers and staff in a positive and professional manner while on campus at all timesMaintain and keep spaces clean dailyMaintain the integrity of the Scenic DesignMaintain a flexible schedule for work calls especially during tech weeksAdhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and maintain a safe work environmentContribute to the overall success of the Production Department by performing any additional duties and responsibilities assigned.Required QualificationsAt least 2 years of professional work experience in a live theatrical environment as a crew member or equivalent educational experienceDemonstrated knowledge of/and experience in a variety of scenic construction techniquesAbility to collaborate with the scenic team to efficiently complete assigned projectsAbility to maintain a professional work environmentAbility to work outside in a desert climateAbility to listen, take instruction, and to participate in a team to complete assigned tasksWorking knowledge of standard scene shop toolsKnowledge of rigging is a plusWelding experience is a plusExcellent organizational skillsExcellent time management skillsExcellent communication skillsAbility to work under tight deadlinesWorks well in a fast paced and high pressure environmentMust be able to run short distances and use stairsMust be able to stand for the length of showsAbility to lift 40+ lbsThis position is represented by IATSE Local 720.
