About Us
Jay Cad (also known As Built LA) is a drafting service specializing in as-built documentation and reality-capture across the LA and SoCal market. We're a fast-growing company adopting the latest technology and evolving into a tech-forward organization.
The Role
We're looking for a mid-level Architectural Designer with BIM experience to join our team, working on Revit-based projects from scan data through existing conditions documentation — producing as-built models and 2D drawings. This role also carries quality control responsibility, reviewing drawings and models produced by teammates.
What You'll Do
- Develop, manage, and refine Revit models across a range of active projects, balancing deadlines with a high standard of quality and accuracy.
- Perform quality control reviews on drawings and models produced by other team members, helping maintain consistency across deliverables.
- Work directly with point cloud data to support scan-to-BIM workflows.
- Prepare reports and project schedules to support tracking and delivery timelines.
- Coordinate closely with teammates on large, complex projects, and with our sales and operations teams to communicate progress and share feedback.
- Apply building code knowledge specific to LA County and surrounding SoCal jurisdictions.
- Join client calls and, when needed, visit project sites in person.
What You Bring
- Strong proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD, with the ability to produce accurate, well-organized models from scan and field data.
- Working knowledge of LA County and Southern California building codes.
- Proficiency with cloud-based file and storage systems, such as Dropbox and Google Drive, and familiarity with project management tools such as Monday.com, Notion, Trello, Todoist, or similar platforms.
- Excellent written communication skills, including clear project note-taking and the ability to give and receive feedback effectively with team members.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with teammates on shared and complex projects.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple project deadlines while maintaining a high standard of quality and accuracy.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment as part of a high-energy team, with adaptability and a quick learning curve to pick up new tools and software as project needs evolve.
- Willingness to travel locally for occasional site visits or client meetings.
- A portfolio demonstrating BIM/Revit project work. Rendering samples are not relevant to this role and should not be included.
Nice to Have
- Point cloud to BIM experience (we'll train you if you don't have it).
- SketchUp experience.
- Rhino experience.
To Apply
Submit your portfolio (BIM/Revit work only, no renderings) and resume. Candidates who advance will complete a brief skills assessment.
