Job description

Amazon Hardlines is looking for an entrepreneurial Vendor Manager who will contribute to P&A performance and manage relationships with key vendors in Business Industrial & Scientific Supplies (BISS). The Vendor Manager will utilize a wide range of skills and work across major functional areas such as inventory management, marketing, merchandising, pricing, operations, and finance to drive the performance of vendor partners within a sub-category of Business Industrial & Scientific Supplies (BISS).

As a Vendor Manager, you will be responsible for managing the full scope of your vendor portfolio, driving topline performance and profitability for your category. You will own the end-to-end vendor relationship, from signing new vendors, leading negotiations, managing promotional activities, and resolving operational or logistics issues that impact our customers. You will leverage key metrics to develop customer insights and drive vendor participation in marketing, merchandising, and promotional activities to drive overall business growth.

The ideal candidate will balance their responsibilities as a VM with delivering high-impact projects and identifying opportunities for new programs. They will be able to effectively work cross-functionally with finance, marketing, operations, sales, compliance, legal, and Amazon Business. Key job responsibilities
  • Own the Retail P&L for the category; develop and execute plans that drive revenue and margin improvement.
  • Lead annual and ongoing vendor negotiations; conduct financial analysis to meet and exceed profitability targets.
  • Develop long-term category strategies and influence cross-category buying processes and standards.
  • Expand vendor selection and secure new brands; pursue strategic holdout vendors to grow category assortment.
  • Build long-term vendor relationships by creating value and growth opportunities; serve as key point of contact for on-boarding, escalations, and negotiations.
  • Increase vendor participation in marketing, merchandising, and promotional activities through deep knowledge of program opportunities.
  • Leverage deep-dive analysis of product line metrics to develop and implement action plans.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor developments to identify business opportunities.
  • Evaluate products and services to drive customer experience quality and competitive differentiation.
  • Dive deep into pricing, selection, and convenience inputs to understand downstream business impact.
  • Identify scalable process improvements and collaborate with cross-functional teams including finance, marketing, operations, sales, legal, technical, and Amazon Business.
  • Own forecasting, analyzing, and reporting on all internal and external variables that impact the business.
Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of with Excel experience
  • 5+ years of retail, operations, product or program management, or business management/consulting with negotiations and delivering results experience
  • Bachelor's degree, or 3+ years of professional or military experience
  • Experience with financial analysis and P&L ownership
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing large data sets and utilizing to drive performance and process improvements
  • Experience in vendor negotiations, pricing and promotion, inventory management, and product development

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
