Job description

Description:

About Mountain West Consulting

Mountain West Consulting (MWC) is a growing project management and consulting firm specializing in large-scale energy infrastructure projects across the Western and Southern United States. We partner with developers, owners, and contractors to deliver industrial and commercial solar projects on time and on budget. As we expand our Texas portfolio, we are seeking a seasoned Senior Project Manager to lead complex solar construction efforts from development through commissioning.

Role Overview

The Senior Project Manager will own end-to-end project delivery for industrial and commercial-scale solar installations in Texas. You will coordinate cross-functional teams, manage owner-contractor relationships, drive schedule and budget performance, and serve as the primary point of accountability for project outcomes. This is a remote position; however, you must operate on Central Time and be available for on-site travel to Texas project sites as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead full project lifecycle management for industrial and commercial solar projects, including planning, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.

• Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules, budgets, and risk registers.

• Serve as the primary client liaison, providing regular status updates and managing expectations.

• Coordinate with EPC teams, subcontractors, utilities, and permitting agencies.

• Identify and resolve issues proactively to minimize scope, schedule, and cost impacts.

• Ensure compliance with safety standards, local regulations, and project specifications.

• Track and report KPIs, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and contract milestones.

• Travel to Texas project sites for site visits, inspections, and milestone reviews as needed.

Requirements:

Qualifications

• 5+ years of project management experience in industrial or commercial-scale solar energy (utility-scale experience a plus).

• Demonstrated track record managing solar construction projects from NTP through COD.

• Deep familiarity with Texas energy market, ERCOT, and Texas permitting processes preferred.

• Proficiency with project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Primavera P6).

• Strong command of contract management, change order processes, and construction law basics.

• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional leadership skills.

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote environment.

• Must be available and responsive during Central Time business hours.

• Ability to travel to Texas project sites (estimated 20–30% travel).

Preferred Qualifications

• PMP certification or equivalent.

• Experience managing owner’s representative or PMO functions.

• Familiarity with BESS (battery energy storage) integration on solar projects.

• Experience with Texas land, environmental, and interconnection agreements.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary: $110,000 – $140,000, commensurate with experience.

• Performance-based incentive plan.

• Health, dental, and vision insurance.

• 401(k) retirement plan.

• Paid time off (PTO) and company holidays.
