Grading Equipment Operator
Raleigh, NC
Description
LeoTerra is actively seeking experienced heavy equipment operators.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy equipment for clearing, grubbing, site striping, mass grading, fine grading, roadway installation, erosion control work/monitoring and other related activities.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations when operating equipment.
  • Complete all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Assist with preparing the construction site each day by preparing materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Various tasks requiring the ability to operate heavy equipment (roller, dozer, excavator, front end loader, off road trucks, skid steer, mini, etc.) at a basic level.
  • Operates heavy equipment of various sizes and weights used in road, site, or highway construction and excavation.
  • Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and provides required reports. Any defects or needed repairs should be reported to the asset manager; cleans equipment.
  • Properly follows all state and federal agencies safety procedures; brings problems to the attention of the General Superintendent, Superintendent, safety director or HR manager.
  • Promotes and complies with all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain certifications required by all state and federal agencies and company safety programs.
  • Flexibility of working hours and locations.
  • Ability to use computer, software, and related tools to complete assigned tasks.

Experience & Requirements
  • Must have at least one year of experience as a heavy equipment operator.
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug and background screening.
  • A motor vehicle report will be run on anyone considered for this position.
  • Desire to learn and grow professionally.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to compute basic numbers, read scales and use simple fractions.
  • Intermediate level of comprehension regarding reading residential design plans, develop erosion, earth moving, and utilities plan.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment.
  • Integrity, credibility, and commitment to company vision.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office, email communications and electronic time-card.
  • Valid driver's license.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.
