SCAD students often participate in collaborative projects through class assignments, cross-disciplinary teams, and industry partnerships known as SCADpro collaborations. These opportunities allow you to work alongside peers from various programs—such as animation, graphic design, and film— simulating real-world teamwork and enhancing your professional network. You may also engage with professionals from leading companies, gaining valuable feedback and practical experience. Such collaborations are integral to the curriculum, helping you build teamwork skills and a strong portfolio for your future career.
A SCAD Student job typically refers to on-campus or freelance work done by students attending the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). These jobs can include roles such as student assistants, tutors, gallery attendants, or freelance artists working on design and creative projects. Many students also take internships related to their field of study to gain real-world experience. These opportunities help students develop their professional skills while balancing their coursework.
To thrive as a SCAD student, you need a solid foundation in art and design principles, a strong creative portfolio, and typically a high school diploma or equivalent with demonstrated artistic ability. Familiarity with industry-standard design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, 3D modeling tools, and digital illustration programs is important. Strong time management, collaboration, and creative problem-solving skills help students excel in project-based environments. These skills and qualifications are crucial for meeting rigorous academic standards, successfully completing studio work, and preparing for future careers in creative fields.

SCAD Atlanta seeks an accomplished full-time Professor of Art History with advanced expertise in non-Western art history, open to any period specialization, to inspire the next generation of creative professionals. The ideal candidate will bring deep scholarly knowledge with a global perspective to the classroom, enabling students to investigate and interpret the complex relationships between historical context and cultural production. The ability to teach global art history survey courses with confidence and breadth, in addition to specialized courses in their area of expertise is essential.
As an art history professor, you will prepare talented students for creative careers through professional, positive, and engaging courses that emphasize research, interpretation, and critical analysis of art and artifacts. In joining one of the largest full-time art history faculty in North America, you will guide student exploration into visual expression and cultural context from antiquity to modernity. You will also provide students with unique opportunities to build vital industry connections, hear from guest speakers, and participate in critiques, portfolio reviews, and more.
In this position, you will prepare talented students for creative careers through professional, positive, and engaging courses. Responsibilities include adherence to all duties and expectations outlined in the SCAD Faculty Handbook, which encompasses coursework preparation, syllabus design and approval, office hours, midterm grade reviews, and more. Among other responsibilities, you will provide students with extra help sessions, extended learning opportunities, and field trips outside of regular class hours. Additionally, you will maintain an active and engaged classroom and conduct course- and program-level assessments.
In this role, you will model professionalism, fulfill all grading and academic documentation requirements, and record attendance. You will assist with all academic assessment and institutional effectiveness efforts. Occasionally, you may support departmental and university-wide initiatives by attending both in-person and virtual events, such as faculty councils, admission activities, accreditation support, curriculum development, and exhibitions, among other duties. Professors must fulfill teaching assignments determined by contact hours as specified in the Employment Agreement.
The university's primary objective is to provide excellent quality educational opportunities to its students within a professional environment where knowledge, creativity, discipline and character are developed. Your teaching activities, other assigned duties, and personal conduct as a professor shall be supportive of this purpose and of the policies and philosophy of SCAD. You will render professional services at times and places determined by the university.
