GENERAL MANAGER


Location: Beverly Hills, CA


Reports To: Operations Manager


Compensation: $80,000-$90,000


Status: Full-Time, Salaried, Exempt


Position Summary

Seeking a coffee-obsessed General Manager to lead the daily operations. This role oversees all front and back of house functions, drives the quality and consistency of the coffee program, develops and retains a strong hourly and supervisory team, and owns the financial performance of the location. The ideal candidate brings genuine passion for specialty coffee alongside the operational discipline to run a high-volume, service-driven business.


Key Responsibilities


Operations

  • Oversee all daily operations including opening and closing procedures, staffing, inventory, and facility upkeep
  • Maintain equipment standards including espresso machines, grinders, brewers, and water filtration, coordinating preventative maintenance and repairs
  • Ensure full compliance with health department, food safety, and local regulatory requirements
  • Manage vendor relationships including green and roasted coffee, dairy and alternative milks, bakery, and paper goods


Coffee Program and Quality

  • Uphold beverage quality standards across espresso, batch brew, and manual brew methods
  • Lead daily dial-in, calibration, and quality control routines
  • Partner with [roasting team / roasting partner] on offerings, seasonal menu changes, and single origin rotations
  • Develop and deliver ongoing barista training and certification


Team Leadership

  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and schedule all hourly and supervisory staff
  • Coach and develop shift leads and assistant managers toward promotion
  • Conduct performance reviews, manage progressive discipline, and maintain accurate documentation
  • Foster a positive, accountable culture with low turnover and high internal mobility


Financial Performance

  • Own the P&L for the location, including revenue, COGS, labor, and controllable expenses
  • Manage labor to budgeted targets while protecting service standards
  • Oversee inventory counts, waste tracking, and ordering accuracy
  • Analyze sales trends and daypart performance to identify growth opportunities


Guest Experience

  • Maintain hospitality standards across every touchpoint from order to handoff
  • Respond to guest feedback and resolve issues in real time
  • Support local marketing, community events, and wholesale or catering relationships as applicable


Qualifications

  • 4+ years of management experience in specialty coffee, café, or fast-casual hospitality
  • Demonstrated P&L ownership with proven results in labor and cost control
  • Strong working knowledge of espresso extraction, brewing ratios, and quality standards
  • Experience hiring, training, and developing hourly teams at scale
  • Proficiency with POS and scheduling systems [e.g., Square, Toast, 7shifts]
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • SCA certification a plus


Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work a flexible schedule including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
